On occasion of the visit to FPT University to grant certificate of merit for the academic institution on 13th February 2017, Minister of Education and Training – Dr. Phung Xuan Nha had 3 messages to FPT University. In the working session, the government delegation headed by the Deputy Prime Minister – Mr. Vu Duc Dam had a seminar focusing on “The readiness of FPT University in the 4th Industrial Revolution”.
The training methods: “Learning actually – Working actually” of FPT University is highly appreciated by Dr. Phung Xuan Nha. During the talk, the Minister of Education and Training has also mentioned to the notable achievements of the school, especially, the formation and development of a university in the direction of advanced practices and internationalization.
In the seminar on the 4th Industrial Revolution, there were 3 messages being sent to FPT University
#1 – The international curriculum and teaching method
Among 275 universities in Vietnam territory, FPT University belongs to a small leading group. The school has been fully developing the training programs based on international standards. Especially, the curriculum in English equips students the capability to to work in not only inside Vietnam but also in global environment after their graduation. FPT University are following the advice of the former Prime Minister – Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung: “Vietnamese universities have to provide the students the capability to work globally, not only inside Vietnam.”
#2 Training programs in association with enterprises
This development direction is an advantage of FPT University. With this direction, the school is tightly attached with information technology advancement. It helps the school to avoid the consequences of being outdated with the training programs focusing on theory and lacking the essential information of professional development.
However, it would be better if the academic institution can predict the change of the labour market in 5-10 years when the internet connection hardly affect to not only ICT field but other parts of the economy. If there is a specialized department preparing the forecast for occupation trend relating to ICT field, the investment in education will be markedly improved. It is possible for FPT University in conducting this strategy thanks to the backing of the mother company – FPT Corporation.
Accordingly, the minister hoped that FPT University will be the key factor in educational sector to provide the high quality human resources in ICT. In the scheme on strengthening ICT sector, the mission to enhance the ICT human resources, the training process is stressed out. FPT University will be the dynamic force to perform this task. It will be the extra push to other universities in developing with specific focus.
#3 It’s high time to invested in research.
The development of the university poses a lot of problems to be confronted with. Looking at the research activities of FPT University throughout 10 years of development, the result is highly impressive in compared with other training organizations. Nevertheless, the gap between researching and excellent training need to be narrowed down. The dramatic development in training activity without research may create the situation of unprepared resource for the technological leap.
Additionally, internationalization is a great advantage of FPT University. The school has successfully train the students with capability to work globally and attract international students join our training programs. It is an important task of educational sector.
Among 9 key tasks of educational sector, there is one mission is to enhance the involvement of IT application in training. FPT University has actively applied distance learning technology. FUNiX, a project of FPT gives students approach to lectures by world-renowned professors. There should be a quality assurance standard to ensure the gradual development and avoid unfortunate incident.
