Enjoy the razor-sharp photo series exploring Japanese culture by an alumni of FPT University

Studying Japanese and experiencing cultures from various countries, including Japan, since her student days, inspired Linh Nguyen (an alumna of FPT University Hanoi) to embark on a cultural journey in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Linh Nguyen, a former student of FPT University Hanoi, recently visited four prefectures in Japan: Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo, and Hakone. She had unforgettable experiences with the natural landscapes and impressive culture of the Land of the Rising Sun, precisely during the most beautiful time of the year: cherry blossom season.

Linh Nguyen shared that she became acquainted with and began to love traditional Japanese culture when she joined the Japan Bridge Engineers Club at FPT University. She said, ‘The club gathered students who love Japanese culture or have aspirations to work in Japan. We organized internal activities, competitions, events, and meaningful cultural exchanges. That’s when I started to immerse myself in Japanese culture.’

At FPT University Hanoi, Linh studied two foreign languages: English and Japanese. ‘Being able to communicate basic Japanese was advantageous for me when I went to Japan for the experience. I could have simple conversations with locals, read documents, and information at famous landmarks to better understand Japanese history and culture,’ Linh shared.

An alumna of FPT University was impressed by the beautiful natural landscapes and long-standing traditional culture of Japan. According to Linh, this wasn’t her first experience with foreign cultures. As a student at FPT University, Linh had the opportunity to participate in an English semester abroad, engaging in cultural exchanges with international students. ‘Those experiences helped me improve my language skills, communication abilities, and adaptability to new cultural environments. They were all very beneficial for my career and future life experiences,’ Linh shared.

Linh shared her deep impression of “the IT guy traveling around the world” – Nguyen Huu Quyen – an alum of FPT University, as well as many other alumni who are studying, living, and working in Japan. The stories of these former students about their experiences abroad are part of the reason and motivation that inspired Linh to embark on her journey to Japan.

Working in the field of economics after graduating from FPT University, Linh’s job and the skills she honed at university have provided her with numerous opportunities to explore new lands and cultures.
