With this in mind, FPTU launched the “STEM Education in the AI Era” programme in June 2024 to bring STEM and artificial intelligence education to upper secondary schools, so that students in cities and provinces alike can learn technology in a modern way.

On 29-30 March 2025, FPTU held two training sessions on its campuses in Ho Chi Minh City and Quy Nhon for more than 500 teachers from over 80 schools in six provinces. Working alongside FPTU lecturers, teachers assembled and programmed devices themselves, covering artificial intelligence in teaching, Teachable Machine, Micro:bit, data visualisation with Python, Raspberry Pi cars and MIT App Inventor. Teachers took part free of charge, and nearly 100 STEM kits were donated to their schools. By April 2025, the programme had trained more than 5,000 teachers free of charge.

This is a community educational event in the full sense: hosted by the University, open for registration to every teacher in the area and free of charge. FPTU shared not only knowledge but also equipment, so that teachers could continue hands-on teaching after returning to their schools. As a result, the impact of the two days did not stop with 500 teachers; it reached students in more than 80 schools and helped narrow the gap in access to technology between localities.

High school teachers assemble and programme STEM devices at FPTU’s free training event in 2025

Free online public lecture series “Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning – Creating Images and Videos”

In the age of artificial intelligence, teachers’ digital skills directly shape how their students learn. The public lecture series “Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning – Creating Images and Videos”, part of the “FPT University for the Community” project, aims to help teachers and students across Vietnam master generative artificial intelligence tools and use them creatively and responsibly in teaching and learning.

The first run took place from 6 to 14 October 2025, with three evening sessions on Zoom taught by FPTU lecturers and offered completely free of charge. Each session led to a concrete product: writing prompts and creating illustrations, editing images, and producing videos with virtual presenters using tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Canva. More than 3,000 teachers and students joined the first session. In response to demand, FPTU continued to open new cohorts, reaching the fifth and sixth cohorts by April 2026.

These are public lectures in the truest sense: open to anyone, with no entry requirements and no tuition fees, and delivered by FPTU lecturers on the University’s online platform. Evening, online delivery removes the barriers of distance and time, so teachers in remote areas can also benefit from university expertise. What participants learn can be applied immediately; one chemistry teacher, for example, used the tools to simulate laboratory equipment. By continuing to open new cohorts, FPTU has turned the series into a lasting source of lifelong learning for teachers.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://daihoc.fpt.edu.vn/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/558910633_1307076638128840_8138214881318183332_n.jpg" alt="Chương trình có sự tham gia chia sẻ của ThS. FPTU GenAI Day 2025 was organised to build public understanding of artificial intelligence among students and residents of Central Vietnam, helping them engage with the technology actively and responsibly.

On 22–23 February 2025, FPTU opened its Da Nang campus free of charge to students, teachers, businesses and technology enthusiasts, welcoming around 4,000 visits, including 1,800 upper secondary students. At the GenAI technology exhibition, visitors tried solutions from technology companies and FPTU research teams, from Drone Soccer and facial recognition to applications of artificial intelligence in education, healthcare and finance. Specialist seminars explored artificial intelligence in Youth Union work at upper secondary schools and in start-ups, while training classes taught students from Hue, Da Nang and Quang Nam to use artificial intelligence effectively and responsibly.

For two days, FPTU turned its campus into an open learning space: anyone interested could come, take part free of charge and learn directly from experts. Each group found content suited to its needs. Students learned to use the tools, teachers and Youth Union officers explored ways to bring artificial intelligence into schools, and young people looked for start-up ideas. By bringing new technology to Central Vietnam, the event allowed local residents to access it without travelling to the major cities.

Upper secondary students try artificial intelligence applications at FPTU GenAI Day 2025 on FPTU’s Da Nang campus

On-campus orientation and technology experience events for upper secondary students and parents

The right choice of study can shape an entire career. The competition follows a simple principle, training first and competition second, so that even students who have never programmed can take part.

Launched in early April 2025, the programme received nearly 800 team registrations in just over three weeks. Students first attended online training from 5 to 14 May, and nearly 3,600 students then competed in the artificial intelligence round on 31 May–1 June on FPTU’s five campuses. The 220 strongest teams joined five robotics workshops before the regional rounds from 16 June to 10 July, which were based on sustainable agriculture and played in an alliance format, requiring teams to cooperate as well as compete. Fifty teams reached the national final on 2–3 August 2025. Entry was free of charge, and FPTU covered meals and accommodation for the finalist teams.

Although framed as a competition, FARC 2025 was in effect a free public learning programme hosted by FPTU: any upper secondary student could register, receive training before competing and practise on the University’s campuses. By covering meals and accommodation, FPTU ensured that students from distant provinces did not have to withdraw for financial reasons. The sustainable agriculture theme showed students how technology can help solve practical problems facing the country.

High school students take part in FPTU AI & Robotics Challenge 2025

AI Young Guru: a free nationwide artificial intelligence competition for upper secondary and vocational students

AI Young Guru, launched by FPTU on 8 January 2026 under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Training and with professional endorsement from the Ministry of Science and Technology, is a nationwide competition for upper secondary and vocational students. Entry is free, and the competition aims at more than finding winners. It sets out to teach students to use artificial intelligence effectively, responsibly and with integrity, and to apply it to real problems in study, work and daily life.

Learning is built into every stage. Before submitting their first ideas, all contestants had to complete at least three free online courses developed by FPTU, so every participant gained a foundation in artificial intelligence whether or not they advanced. In Round 1 (January-February 2026), teams proposed solutions using freely available tools. The 150 strongest teams then solved practical challenges in a three-hour in-person round, held simultaneously on FPTU’s five campuses in Hanoi, Da Nang, Quy Nhon, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho.

The competition attracted 26,037 students from 1,687 schools in 34 provinces and cities. Two decisions explain this reach. Opening the competition to vocational students brought them into a national artificial intelligence competition alongside upper secondary students. Holding the in-person round on five campuses across the North, Centre and South allowed students to compete close to home rather than travel to a single venue. In this way, FPTU’s campuses served as regional learning hubs where students from many localities practised artificial intelligence on real problems.

FPTU AI Young Guru: Free AI learning and competition for upper secondary and vocational students

All the events presented above were hosted by FPTU on its campuses or its own online platforms, were open to the general public and were free of charge.
