5 campuses of FPT University participate in the external quality assessment

Prof. Dr. Banh Tien Long and an external assessment team from the Saigon Center for Education Quality Assessment conducted surveys at 5 campuses of FPT University.

The assessment team worked at the Hanoi campus from March 27 to 31 and visited the Can Tho, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Binh Dinh campuses from April 1 to 4. During this time, Prof. Dr. Banh Tien Long, former Deputy Minister of Education and Training, led the assessment team.

According to him, FPT University has achieved certain successes in training high-quality human resources in recent years. The university applies prominent philosophies such as “Education is the organization and management of self-learning of learners,” “Learn authentically, test authentically, succeed authentically,” and “Dare to be different to do well.”

Prof. Dr. Banh Tien Long previously participated in the initial assessment of FPT University during the first cycle of 2013–2018. After five years, during the 2019–2023 cycle, he assessed the institution’s improvements and developments in scale and quality.

The external assessment team noted that the university has seen a significant increase in the number of lecturers with doctoral and master’s degrees and has reviewed and adjusted its training programs, innovating teaching and learning methods in a modern direction to meet the needs of stakeholders, for example, considering English proficiency as an admission criterion.

He also praised the university’s performance in scientific research, with many high-quality papers published in reputable domestic and international journals, as well as its community service activities. In addition to the Hanoi campus, the university has established and implemented four major branches in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Binh Dinh, and Da Nang, with beautiful campuses, unique architecture, and modern facilities, enabling students to develop their self-learning, innovation, and creativity.

The quality assessment process helps institutions systematically review all activities and adjust operations according to the applicable quality standards. The steps of the education quality assessment process include: the educational institution conducts a self-assessment of all its activities according to quality assessment standards, the educational institution is externally assessed by the Quality Assessment Center; the appraisal of external assessment results; and recognition of meeting education quality standards.

At the end of the quality assessment, FPT University was highly evaluated by the expert team in several standards, including: activities serving and supporting learners; learner assessment; connection and service to the community; and community service outcomes.

Working with the team, Dr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the FPT University Council, shared that the institution has built and implemented the 5-excellence model with factors such as training, research, business relationships, internationalization, and social responsibility. External assessment activities are an opportunity for FPT University to assess its achieved goals, identify areas for improvement, and innovate in building and operating teaching and learning activities.
