An official assessment on the quality of education facilities at FPT University

Recently, an external assessment team from the Saigon Centre for Educational Quality Accreditation (CEA-Saigon) conducted an assessment at FPT University’s campuses for the quality of education facilities. Alongside previous working activities, the formal completion of the assessment was achieved.

The official assessment of the quality of education facilities at FPT University took place from March 25th to March 31st, with direct activities at FPT University in Hanoi and Can Tho campuses and online sessions with Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Quy Nhon campuses.

Prof. Assoc. Banh Tien Long, former Deputy Minister of Education and Training and leader of the assessment team, delivered the opening speech for the official assessment.

The Saigon Centre for Educational Quality Accreditation (CEA-Saigon) was responsible for conducting the official assessment on the quality of education facilities at FPT University. The experts included Prof. Assoc. Banh Tien Long, Former Deputy Minister of Education and Training, as Leader; Dr. Le Hoang Vu, Deputy Director of EQAC Saigon, Secretary; Prof. Assoc. Do Hanh Nga, Deputy Director of EQAC Saigon, Permanent Member; Prof. Assoc. Vu Duc Lung, Chairman of the Council of the VNU HCMC, Member; and Dr. Tran Cong Nghiep, Accreditator of EQAC Saigon, Member.

From the CEA-Saigon, there were Dr. Nguyen Kim Dung (Centre Director, Supervisor) and Master Nguyen Thi Le Hang (Centre Officer).

Welcoming the external assessment team, FPT University representatives included Assoc. Prof. Le Truong Tung (Chairman of the University Council), Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Khac Thanh (Rector of FPT University), Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Kim Anh (Vice Rector of FPT University), along with representatives from departments, management, and faculty and students of the university.

Continuing the work with FPT University, from April 1st to April 4th, the external assessment team visited FPT University campuses in Can Tho, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Quy Nhon.

At the end of the external assessment, based on the set of standards for assessing the quality of education facilities issued in Circular 12/2017/TT-BGDĐT dated May 19, 2017, including 25 standards and 111 criteria, FPT University was highly evaluated by the expert team in some activities.

In particular, Standard 17: Supporting learners activities received the most positive evaluations. Experts noted that FPT University has a system of functional departments providing diverse activities for supporting learners from enrollment to graduation. Moreover, the application of IT systems for monitoring to provide timely support to learners was also highly appreciated.

The external evaluation team is on the FPT University Can Tho campus.

Standard 16: Student assessment was also highly rated. The university organized independent assessments alongside teaching activities, ensuring objectivity and fairness in student evaluation. Activities and forms of assessment were also regularly improved based on research data and the analysis of evaluation results.

The external assessment team is in a Digital Art & Design class.

Additionally, Standard 21: Community connection and service and Standard 24: Community service outcomes with evidence of preserving and promoting traditional values through experiential activities for students such as “bringing ethnic musical instruments to high schools” and “introducing Vovinam—Vietnamese martial arts to high schools”; attracting the participation of a large number of staff, students, and the public outside the university were also standards that reflected outstanding results.

The team exchanges information about participating in community projects to promote traditional culture.

In conclusion of the official assessment, Dr. Nguyen Kim Dung (Center Director, Supervisor) expressed that they highly appreciated some activities that clearly demonstrated the spirit of “doing differently to do well” at the university. FPT University was evaluated as having a vision, mission, core values, and unique educational philosophy, contributing to enhancing the quality of higher education in Vietnam.

Dr. Nguyen Kim Dung also made some recommendations on how FPT University could improve the quality of its activities in the future through effective and continuous comparison and improvement, officially completing and concluding the assessment on the quality of education facilities at FPT University.
