A group of Multimedia Communication students from FPT University Ho Chi Minh City is launching a project called SUSTain Vinh Hy. The goal is to promote sustainable tourism and raise awareness about conservation while highlighting the unique cultural values of Vinh Hy Bay.
SUSTain Vinh Hy focuses on increasing awareness of responsible travel behaviors and spreading positive tourism messages through social media campaigns (providing knowledge about sustainable tourism in Vinh Hy), community events at FPT University Ho Chi Minh City, and collaborations with local tourism businesses. The project aims to shift the perceptions and behaviors of visitors, especially young people from Ho Chi Minh City, towards a sustainable future for Vinh Hy Bay.
Vinh Hy Bay, a national scenic site, is considered one of the four most beautiful bays in Vietnam
Vinh Hy Fishing Village, located in Vinh Hai Commune, Ninh Hai District, Ninh Thuan Province, boasts pristine beaches and colorful coral reefs, attracting many visitors from both within Vietnam and abroad. The village is home to 745 households with over 2,840 residents, primarily engaged in fishing and tourism services.
According to Mr. Tran Minh Thai, Chairman of Ninh Hai District People’s Committee, local tourism has been thriving recently, with a significant contribution from Vinh Hy Bay, a well-known destination. In the first six months of this year, Ninh Hai District welcomed over 1.21 million visitors, including nearly 25,000 international tourists.
Young tourist Le Nguyen Kim Sa in Vinh Hy
Le Nguyen Kim Sa, a young tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, shared: “Even though I’ve traveled to many places around the world, I find Central Vietnam’s coastline, especially Vinh Hy Bay, to be uniquely beautiful. The pristine and stunning natural landscapes here are unforgettable. I hope the area will always be preserved in its green, clean, and beautiful state.”
The SUSTain Vinh Hy project also acknowledges that the rapid development of tourism presents significant challenges for the region. Issues such as environmental pollution, waste, over-tourism, and the erosion of traditional cultural values are affecting Vinh Hy. This is why the project focuses on influencing both locals and tourists to foster sustainable tourism in Vinh Hy Bay
