This past weekend, FPT University Hanoi successfully held the opening ceremony for the freshmen of Class 20. The event not only marked the beginning of a new academic year but also became a memorable milestone with the full presence of parents. The ceremony was a perfect combination of formality and warmth, opening up a promising learning journey for the new students.
Attending this year’s opening ceremony, FPT University Hanoi was honored to welcome Colonel Le Hong Dang, Vice Principal of the Military School and Deputy Director of the National Defense and Security Education Center, Hanoi Military School of the Hanoi Command; Colonel, MSc. Dang Viet Hung, Head of the Student Management Training Department of the National Defense and Security Education Center, University of Pedagogy 2; Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, Director of the SEA (Automotive Engineering Solutions) Center – FPT Automotive; Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh, HR Director of FPT Software; Mr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of FPT University and President of FPT Education Organization; Mr. Nguyen Khac Thanh, Principal of FPT University; Ms. Nguyen Kim Anh, Vice Principal of FPT University; Mr. Hoang Nam Tien, Vice Chairman of the Board of FPT University; Mr. Ta Ngoc Cau, Deputy Director of FPT University Hanoi Campus, along with leaders of FPT’s educational entities, department heads, faculty, staff, students, and parents.
Before the opening ceremony, due to severe weather, landslides, and flooding causing significant loss of life and property, the school observed a minute of silence to honor the victims of these disasters.
As a result, the artistic performances typically part of the ceremony were not included. Instead, the school focused on simple, solemn activities to express respect and sympathy for the victims and their families. Although the ceremony lacked the usual entertainment performances, it proceeded in a dignified and meaningful atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of empathy and solidarity shared by the entire student and teacher community.
In his speech at the ceremony, Mr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the FPT University Board, warmly welcomed the freshmen of Class 20: “This is a particularly special year, as it is the first year that FPT Education and FPT University have implemented the message of practical education, exceptional experience, reasonable costs, extensive systems, and a happy teacher-student relationship.” He emphasized the importance of kindness: “We hope that the students will carry the spirit of kindness into the school, and this kindness will be nurtured and preserved throughout your studies here, as well as when you step into society later on.”
Following his speech, he performed the traditional drum ceremony, marking the start of the academic journey for the freshmen of Class 20 at FPT University.
This special opening day also featured heartfelt remarks from the freshmen themselves. Representing thousands of new students, Vu Hoai Thu, a student of Media Technology, shared her thoughts:
“The year 2024 is an extraordinary year as FPT University turns 18, the same age as us. As 18-year-old freshmen of Class 20, we are marking a significant transition from high school students to university students. This is the beginning of the brightest years of our youth under the roof of FPT University.”
Notably, during the opening ceremony, FPT Automotive and FPT Software sponsored scholarships worth 900 million VND for students enrolled in the Digital Automotive Technology program.
One unique aspect of FPT culture, as well as FPT University, is the connection with alumni, those who have graduated and are now thriving in different parts of the world. Today, at the opening ceremony, the freshmen had the opportunity to connect with alumni living and working across the globe.
This year’s opening ceremony not only marked an important milestone signaling the start of a new academic journey for the freshmen of Class 20 but also served as a special occasion to express solidarity and deep connection within the FPT community.
