On February 15th, FPT University held the inauguration of the Innovation Lab, marking a significant step in creating a modern environment for practice and research for students, while also strengthening the collaborative relationship between the university and enterprises.
The Innovation Lab was established with the goal of becoming a center for technology research and development for students and lecturers of FPT University. It is a place where Information Technology students, especially those majoring in Software Engineering (SE), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Information Security (IA), can carry out research and application projects from businesses. The lab is equipped with modern equipment systems serving research in computer vision as well as software development. Additionally, students are provided with high-capacity cloud accounts to deploy large language model projects.
Immediately after the inauguration ceremony, FPT University had a working session with representatives from Valley Campus Sai Gon (VCS), a technology company headquartered in Japan, specializing in research and development of IoT, AI, and big data solutions for the manufacturing and business sectors. The purpose of the meeting was to promote cooperation between the two parties in the field of technology. They discussed potential projects, including the development of software applications integrating artificial intelligence (AI) models, the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as expanding job opportunities and skill training for students.
Valley Campus Sai Gon presented two major projects to be implemented with FPT University. The first is a smart agriculture management project, applying IoT and AI in automatic plant irrigation and monitoring seedling growth through cameras. This project will be integrated into the Odoo system. The second project is a system for ocean tuna processing plants at Cam Ranh port (Khanh Hoa), including features such as managing material purchase orders, operating cost management, raw material management, applying AI to convert speech to text, and attendance tracking through facial recognition.
Mr. Satomura Shinichi, CEO of Valley Campus Sai Gon, highly appreciated the Information Technology training program of FPT University, especially the programming skills, creative thinking, and potential of students in the IoT and AI fields. The company expressed its desire to accompany FPT University in training and guiding students to participate in real-world projects to accumulate experience and prepare for a professional working environment.
The inauguration of the Innovation Lab and the working session with Valley Campus Sai Gon have opened a new step for FPT University in closely collaborating with businesses and developing projects in the Information Technology field in the future.
