FPT University Students Organize Career Fair Capstone Project, Drawing Thousands of Youth Participants

The 2025 Career Fair at FPT University welcomed over 5,000 student participants and 55 enterprises from various sectors.

Nguyen Ngoc Trong, Tran Thi Thu Huyen, and Pham Thi Phuong Anh — final-year students majoring in Multimedia Communication at FPT University — chose to wrap up their undergraduate journey with an ambitious capstone project: organizing FPTU Career Fair 2025, the university’s largest career event of the year. Centered around the theme “Shaping the Sustainable Journey – Green Careers, Building a Sustainable Future”, the event took place in March 2025 and exceeded expectations in both scale and impact.

Sharing the motivation behind choosing FPTU Career Fair 2025 as their graduation project, the team said the idea stemmed from their own experiences attending past career fairs. With a desire to create a project that would not only fulfill academic requirements but also generate tangible value for the student community, the group proposed a collaboration with the Office of Corporate Relations and Alumni Affairs at FPT University. Their proposal received enthusiastic support from the university, paving the way for a practical, impactful graduation project.

From the very beginning of concept development, the students were clear: “Sustainable development” is not just a trend but a vital direction in facing global challenges — particularly climate change. These transformations present a new challenge for the younger generation: to not only pursue their own careers but also contribute to a more sustainable future for the community and the planet.

FPTU Career Fair 2025 targeted students from their second year onward — those in the process of shaping their career identities and needing further guidance. At the same time, the team connected with businesses committed to sustainable development (ESG-oriented) to build a two-way bridge between high-quality young talent and pioneering enterprises.

One of the group’s biggest challenges was finding ways to innovate the student experience, as the career fair is an annual tradition at FPT University with its own established identity. This was also the challenge posed by the Office of Corporate Relations, demanding creativity and in-depth research from the students.

To meet that challenge, the group spent two months conducting communication research, surveying student behaviors, and building a system of ideas. By October 2024, they finalized the proposal, passed two rounds of presentation, and received approval to launch the event in December 2024.

As part of the requirement to “refresh the event,” the students proposed a tech exhibition zone where companies could showcase artificial intelligence applications. The proposal also included an ESG-friendly technology display area (environmental, social, governance), which was highly appreciated though ultimately unimplemented due to resource limitations. The concept is expected to be rolled out at Career Fair 2026.

Ahead of the main event, the team coordinated with the Office of Corporate Relations and Alumni Affairs to organize a series of career workshops and talk shows featuring employers, helping students gain early insights into the job market.

Though made up of only three members, the group saw this as an advantage for flexibility and efficiency. Each member handled tasks aligned with their strengths — from content development and communication strategy to event coordination. They held weekly team meetings and exchanged updates daily, supporting one another to build a highly cohesive and disciplined workflow. Over nine months, the team overcame immense workloads and learned how to maintain long-term motivation — no small feat for a large-scale project that spanned nearly a year.

FPTU Career Fair 2025 succeeded beyond the team’s expectations. The event attracted 5,000 students and featured 55 companies from sectors such as finance, banking, technology, and food services.

Team leader Ngoc Trong shared: “We achieved our goal of effectively promoting one of the university’s largest events, and each member gained a meaningful experience to close out our final year. But more than that, we matured through the journey. We discovered our strengths, realized what we still need to learn, figured out how to collaborate, manage crises, and stay resilient when things don’t go as planned. We became the best versions of ourselves at the very end of our student life — and that’s the most complete success.”

The team expressed heartfelt gratitude to their advisor, Thu Hue, who supported and inspired them every step of the way, as well as to all faculty members, school staff, family, and friends who worked quietly behind the scenes. “We are especially thankful to the Multimedia Communication faculty and the Corporate Relations and Alumni Affairs team for giving us the opportunity to learn and organize such a large-scale real-world event like Career Fair. Most of all, we believe that the dynamic, resilient, creative, and challenge-embracing spirit of FPT University students helped our team overcome pressure and bring this beautiful student journey to a meaningful close,” Trong affirmed.
