FPTU students crowned champion of Vovinam Dance 2025 – also owners of a series of prestigious gold medals

With an impressive list of major awards, Falcon – the team from FPT University Can Tho campus – has proven itself to be a name “not to be underestimated.” Most recently, the team made its mark by winning the championship title at Vovinam Dance 2025.

Falcon was founded on November 24, 2024, by members who share a passion for martial arts. Their decision to join Vovinam Dance 2025 came unexpectedly when the team was invited to film a sample video for Vo Nhac No.1. “We just wanted to create more memories together and test ourselves at a national-level competition. Luckily, that spontaneous decision opened up an unforgettable journey,” a team representative shared.

Trong 2 năm, Falcon liên tục giành được những thành tích vô cùng ấn tượng

Vovinam Dance 2025 is a cultural–sporting playground for students, launched on March 18, 2025, by the Vietnam Vovinam Federation in collaboration with Hanoi Radio and Television. After the online qualifiers from April 1 to July 31 on the Vovinam Digital platform, the contest attracted 675 individuals and groups from 18 provinces and cities nationwide, with over 100 impressive submissions.

To prepare for the qualifiers, Falcon had only three days to complete the script, rehearse, and film their entry. The competition coincided with exam season, making it a challenge to balance study and practice. Many days, members rushed to training right after finishing exams and did not return home until late at night. Injuries during practice were unavoidable, but the team always encouraged each other. Entering the finals, they faced another challenge when their props went missing right before the performance. “But for us, such incidents are normal. The most important thing is to lift each other up and perform our best,” one member recalled.

Those late-night practices until the security guard asked them to leave, or the days of “living” at school to meet deadlines, turned Falcon into a real family. All the pressure and fatigue broke into joy when their name was called for the championship. “At that moment, all the tiredness turned into pride. For us, it was the most unforgettable moment, a beautiful milestone of our youth.”

Falcon left a strong impression with two performances: Vibe Viet and Da Nguyet Sau. If Vibe Viet in the qualifier conveyed grandeur, strength, and the indomitable spirit of the nation, then Da Nguyet Sau in the finals touched the audience’s emotions with the image of a woman in longing, performed to the song Goi Gam (singer Phuong My Chi). The performance stood out with its mix of graceful dance moves, dramatic music, and stage effects creating a dreamlike atmosphere, like a “melancholy moon.” It not only impressed artistically but also helped the audience connect with the team’s emotions.

Throughout the competition, the team received strong support from the university – from communication and funding to professional advice. “The care and encouragement from teachers and seniors were a big source of motivation for us to perform with confidence,” Falcon said.

At FPTU, Vovinam is a compulsory subject – something rare among universities. This foundation gave Falcon solid technique, training discipline, and persistence. Their victory not only affirmed the youth, passion, and creativity of FPTU students but also showed the special value of bringing Vovinam into the curriculum. “Introducing Vovinam into student life not only builds health, willpower, and discipline but also helps preserve national cultural identity in a modern environment,” a Falcon representative emphasized.

In just two years, Falcon has continuously achieved remarkable results, including: First Prize at the Martial Arts Dance Festival – Clubs and Teams 2024, Gold Medal at the Martial Arts Dance Hovilo Games 2024, Gold Medal at Martial Arts Dance Khoi Nguon Vo Viet 2024, Champion of Hovi’s Talent 2025, First Prize in July at Vovinam Dance (group category over 15 years old), and most recently, Champion of Vovinam Dance 2025 (group category from 15 years old). These awards prove the talent, dedication, and team spirit of young people who dare to turn passion into resounding victories.

Beyond achievements, the team hopes their journey will inspire many others. “Vovinam is not only martial arts but also culture and national pride. We hope more young people will see the creativity and accessibility of martial arts dance, so they will love it, connect with it, and spread the spirit of Vietnamese martial arts,” Falcon shared.
