At the 13th annual Coursera Conference recently held in Las Vegas (USA), FPT University was recognized as a partner with outstanding achievements in AI innovation, an award given to institutions with remarkable initiatives in teaching and learning.
According to Coursera, this award highlights institutions that excel in leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) tools to design creative, personalized, and highly effective learning programs. FPT University was one of the few institutions in the region to be honored, alongside other prestigious international partners.
Coursera stated that the award was evaluated based on five criteria: vision, impact, engagement, scalability, and inspiration. FPT University made a clear mark in all five.
In terms of vision, the university was an early adopter of AI and digital tools to create breakthrough learning journeys for students. Regarding impact, its initiatives have gone beyond pilots to generate tangible change, demonstrated by the increasing number of students and lecturers engaging in AI learning with measurable results in teaching.
The university also stood out in engagement by building an inspiring learning environment that fosters long-term commitment and perseverance among students. On scalability, AI is not limited to a few trial courses but has been integrated into hundreds of subjects, making it a central focus in workforce development strategies. Finally, FPT University was highly rated for its ability to inspire, motivating both students and lecturers to continuously learn, embrace innovation, and contribute to a sustainable learning culture.
Currently, AI has been integrated into about 140 subjects at FPT University, accounting for 30% of the undergraduate curriculum. As a result, around 35% of students each semester are exposed to AI practice directly in their core courses. Beyond students, staff and lecturers are also encouraged to use AI tools to optimize work, save time, and boost productivity. In the 2024–2025 academic year alone, more than 1,200 staff and lecturers completed at least one AI course on Coursera; over 100 other AI courses were directly applied by lecturers in teaching.
In addition to using existing Coursera courses, FPT University has developed internal AI courses and employed Coursera as a supporting platform to implement the “Ky su 57” program. This program equips students with knowledge and skills to become a strategic reserve force for Vietnam’s national digital transformation – a major goal in the country’s new era of development.
Greg Hart, President and CEO of Coursera, remarked: “Vietnam is one of the most dynamic markets in Asia-Pacific, playing a vital role in Coursera’s mission. We hope that regional pricing adjustments and trial learning experiences will help Vietnamese learners gain easier access to our global library.”
In recent years, FPT University has integrated Coursera into its educational digital transformation, significantly enhancing self-learning capabilities and access to global training programs for students, staff, and lecturers across multiple fields.
For three consecutive years, FPT University has been honored by Coursera in various categories: Bold Innovator – Faculty Adoption of Online Learning (2022), Campus Transformation Outstanding Achievement Award (2023), and Maximizing Impact Award (2024).
At FPT University, each student completes about 20% of their coursework on Coursera, while each staff member and lecturer finishes at least 35 hours of online training annually. The university also encourages faculty to design online courses, conduct research on technology, and participate in digital training projects, keeping pace with educational demands in the era of artificial intelligence.
By proactively adopting and expanding AI applications, FPT University has created diverse and optimized learning experiences aligned with global standards, while contributing to the preparation of high-quality human resources for Vietnam’s digital transformation goals.
