FPT University has actively contributed to the formulation of national policy for the development of the semiconductor industry

At the first meeting of the National Steering Committee for Semiconductor Industry Development (December 2024), held in Hanoi, experts representing FPT University participated and provided valuable input in shaping a national policy framework for the development of Vietnam’s semiconductor sector.

The meeting outlined a strategic vision, stating that the development of the semiconductor industry is an objective necessity, a strategic choice, and a top national priority. It also emphasized the need to promote new growth drivers such as digital transformation, green transformation, and the development of a circular economy.

The conference further analyzed the context, current situation, and development requirements of Vietnam’s semiconductor industry, identifying key national advantages and urging the country to seize emerging opportunities. The Government’s Steering Committee carefully considered expert opinions — including those from representatives of leading technological universities such as FPT University — which are among the key institutions responsible for training human resources for Vietnam’s national semiconductor strategy.

Building on this inaugural session and in subsequent meetings, the National Steering Committee for Semiconductor Industry Development will continue to outline specific strategies and policies on investment, development priorities, human resource training, and international cooperation.

Together with FPT Corporation — a core member of the FPT education ecosystem — FPT University positions its institutional strategy as a provider of high-quality human resources supporting the national semiconductor development plan. FPT University actively contributes to the formulation and advancement of semiconductor-related human resource policies at both national and regional levels through training programs and curriculum development across its five campuses nationwide. These efforts are implemented flexibly and urgently to address the country’s immediate workforce needs.

This strategy is also aligned with the National Action Plan for the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (Decision No. 681/QĐ-TTg) and operates in parallel with the National Digital Transformation Strategy.

To remain a pioneering and fast-moving institution in executing this strategy, FPT University has rapidly integrated semiconductor studies into its operational systems and academic programs, expanded the recruitment of qualified personnel, and achieved encouraging early results: despite being a relatively new field in Vietnam, FPTU has already enrolled nearly 2,000 students in semiconductor and AI programs this year.

In collaboration with FPT Corporation and through partnerships across academia, research, and industry, FPT University is establishing itself as a trusted and strategic partner contributing to Vietnam’s national semiconductor development agenda.
