The cooperation agreement between FPT University and the Vietnam E-commerce Association opens up many opportunities for students majoring in e-commerce to study, gain hands-on experience, and connect directly with the industry’s business ecosystem.
On the morning of January 13, FPT University and the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM) signed a cooperation agreement on training and human resource development in e-commerce. Attending the signing ceremony were Nguyen Khac Thanh, president of FPT University; Trinh Trong Hung, head of the faculty of business and law at FPT University; Tran Manh Tuyen, vice chairman of VECOM; Tran Van Trong, secretary general of VECOM; along with representatives of both sides.

Under the agreement, the two parties agreed to implement a range of activities that closely link training with the practical needs of the e-commerce sector. Specifically, VECOM will connect member enterprises to receive FPT University students for field visits and internships at companies, while also coordinating the organization of seminars, forums, and thematic talks to exchange professional expertise and share practical experience, helping students better understand market demands during their studies.

The association will also provide information on recruitment needs from member enterprises, consider recruiting suitable students, and coordinate training and the issuance of professional certificates for final-year students to enhance their professional capacity and competitiveness when entering the labor market.

From FPT University’s side, the university commits to introducing students to VECOM’s partner units for field visits and internships, and to sharing recruitment information from member enterprises so that students can access and apply for positions. FPT University will also invite VECOM to participate in skill development activities, career counseling, and thematic seminars for students, as well as jointly implement programs initiated by VECOM and the network of e-commerce training institutions to identify and honor student talent and to effectively utilize scholarships sponsored by VECOM and its partners.
Representatives of FPT University and VECOM exchanged the memorandum of understanding, marking the start of cooperation in e-commerce training.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, president Nguyen Khac Thanh emphasized that for FPT University, enterprises play a crucial role in student training. Businesses are a “reliable” environment that helps students mature through the on-the-job training semester. Upon graduation, students can confidently state on their CVs that they have hands-on experience at enterprises, thereby enhancing their competitiveness.
Nguyen Khac Thanh highly appreciated the role of enterprises in FPT University’s training model.
Tran Manh Tuyen noted that over the next 10 years, VECOM will focus on developing high-quality human resources for the e-commerce market. Therefore, cooperation with universities, including FPT University, has been identified as one of the association’s key activities. To date, VECOM has built a network linking more than 50 universities nationwide with programs related to e-commerce to coordinate training and promote this field of study.
In 2026, FPT University will expand its training offerings with several new majors and specializations, including e-commerce under the business administration program. Commenting on this move, Tran Van Trong, secretary general of VECOM, said that FPT University made a timely and well-judged decision to enter e-commerce training at a time when the market is transitioning toward a more sustainable development phase.
Representatives of VECOM expressed their high appreciation for FPT University’s decision to launch the e-commerce specialization.
The cooperation agreement between FPT University and VECOM is expected to create an important foundation for students pursuing the e-commerce specialization. Students will not only gain systematic academic knowledge in the classroom but also be directly connected to the industry’s business ecosystem. Through field visits, internships, skill training, and early access to recruitment information, students will have the conditions to strengthen practical competencies, better understand real market requirements, and shape their career pathways while still studying. As a result, the agreement contributes to improving training quality and enhancing the competitiveness of FPT University students as they enter an e-commerce labor market that is developing in a more professional and sustainable direction.
