On August 29, FPT Education (FPT Edu) had the honor to host the international ACBSP conference on the theme “Exploring the Value of ACBSP Accreditation for Business Schools”. The event took place in the Hoa Lac Campus of FPT University.
The Conference had the honor to be attended by Mr. Jeffrey Alderman, CEO/President of the Global ACBSP Council, and Mr. Rajesh Khajuria, ACBSP director of the Asia – Pacific Region. The ACBSP representatives shared about the importance and benefits of joining and obtaining ACBSP accreditation.
This event marks the first time FPT Education hosts an international conference
The event was attended by tertiary institutions in business across Vietnam. In addition to the representatives from FPT Education such as FPT University, University of Greenwich (Vietnam), FPT Polytechnic, FPT High School etc. the event also had the honor of welcoming representatives from the National Economics University, Thanh Tay University, SaigonTech etc.
In the Conference, Mr. Jefferey Alderman spent some time sharing about the importance of pursuing ACBSP accreditation for Universities offering business administration programs.
According to Mr. Alderman, “Once being accredited by an international institution, a University shall enjoy significant benefits and value in terms of branding, which help to attract students and bring opportunities of exchange, cooperation, and student transfers to prestigious universities in the world.”
Recognizing the importance of ACBSP accreditation, FPT Education is the second institution in Vietnam joining an international accreditation organization for business programs. Dr. Tran Ngoc Tuan (Dean of the Faculty of Business, FPT University) from FPT University has been voted as a member of ACBSP Council Region 10.
In particular, at the 2017 ACBSP Conference, an international event on education which took place last June in Anaheim, California (USA) as organized by the ACBSP Council, Mr. Vo Minh Hieu, a lecturer from FPT University, was recognized as one of the 10 best lecturers in the world.

Dr. Ta Ngoc Cau (Associate Dean, Faculty of Business, FPT University), in his presentation in the conference, stressed the importance and significance of joining ACBSP for FPT Education. “We hope that, by joining ACBSP, FPT University can affirm the position among universities offering business programs in Vietnam and in the world,” said Dr. Cau.
The representatives from universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh were highly interested in such content as: what accreditation is, why institutions should apply for international accreditation, the values of ACBSP accreditation for the university, students, lecturers and programs. Even when the event had come to an end, the representatives of the universities still stayed to meet the members of the ACBSP Council in person.
As one of the people directly involved in the implementation of ACBSP-related activities, Dr. Truong Cong Duan (Head of the Development Division for Higher Education Programs, FPT University) shared about FPT University’s journey when joining this accreditation program.
“In the age of global integration, with the hope of promoting and affirming the quality of Business programs in line with top business schools in the world, FPT University has played an active role in pursuing ACBSP accreditation since April 2016.
Becoming an official member of ACBSP is the motivation for FPT University in continuously improving and upgrading the quality of the program towards international quality standards”, said Dr. Duan.
FPT Education acts as an ambassador to connect the ACBSP Council representatives with the universities that will potentially join the accreditation organization.

In the US, ACBSP together with AACSB are two of the most prestigious accreditation organizations for business programs. To be granted the accreditation status, the universities have to pass several procedures and a strict accreditation process, on areas such as: facilities, faculty, program, management process, learning outcomes, and student support services. |
