FPT University (FPTU) is one of the universities that train high-quality IT human resources for both domestic and international markets. Recognizing the impact of AI on education, FPTU has pioneered the establishment of the project: STEM Education in the age of AI. This is a major project of FPTU, part of its overall strategy: FPTU for the Community.
As part of the STEM Education in the age of AI project, FPT University has launched the program “Applying AI in High School Teaching” to support the teaching efforts of more than 10,000 teachers nationwide.
As one of the 26 key persons in the project, M.Sc Hồ Hải – Head of the Information Assurance Department at FPT University – shared that the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) brings numerous opportunities in education, such as personalized learning, optimizing teaching and learning processes, and developing 21st-century skills. However, this technology also presents major challenges, including a lack of ethical principles, data security concerns, inadequate infrastructure and resources, and issues of educational equity.

Previously, the 11 National High School Principals’ Conference Series, organized by FPTU under the theme “Leadership in the age of AI”, made a significant impact on the education sector. More than 1,200 high school principals from 33 provinces participated.

Building on this success, FPTU launched the “Applying AI in High School Teaching” program to assist high school teachers in using AI tools for their teaching activities.
The university has conducted four online training courses, each consisting of six sessions, with each session lasting two hours from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. A total of more than 10,000 high school teachers from across the country have participated.
The courses in the “Applying AI in High School Teaching” program cover a wide range of content. In addition to providing an overview of the current AI landscape and available tools, the sessions focus heavily on hands-on practice. This enables teachers to gain proficiency in using AI tools and integrating them into their teaching.
Specifically, in the first session, FPT University introduces AI, tools such as ChatGPT and Gamma, and discusses the benefits and challenges of using AI in education, along with cybersecurity issues. In the following sessions, experts guide teachers on how to create lesson plans, syllabi, and mind maps using ChatGPT; optimize and personalize teaching materials; evaluate quality and applicability; and develop effective prompts for ChatGPT to enhance lesson planning.

In the third session, teachers learn how to use AI to generate exam questions, conduct assessments, and explore ethical concerns and risks associated with AI. The final session focuses on helping participants create My GPTs for Education, providing an overview of how to customize ChatGPT models, collect data, build datasets, train models, and apply them in practice.
For high school students, who are potential IT majors, the university has organized seven online courses for over 3,600 students from more than 26 provinces.

The project’s online courses have received positive feedback from over 85% of participants, an impressive engagement rate. The number of registrations for FPTU’s free AI programs continues to grow.
Previously, since 2022, the university has also carried out several other meaningful community projects, such as bringing traditional music to high schools, teaching English to the community, and providing art classes for underprivileged children. Through the FPTU for the Community projects, many academic and humanitarian values have been shared with society, contributing to a positive perception of FPT University’s brand.
