FPT University student crowned champion of the APAC Teamfight Tactics tournament

Le Nguyen Vu – a K19 student majoring in Information Security at FPT University – has claimed an impressive victory at the Asia-Pacific eSports arena.

Le Nguyen Vu (K19, Information Security) triumphed over 128 top-tier opponents from countries across the Asia-Pacific region to secure the championship title at the Tactical Cup I — the first APAC qualifier of Teamfight Tactics Set 14 — on April 27. This marks the fourth consecutive time that a Vietnamese player has won the qualifier of this prestigious tournament.

With this victory, Nguyen Vu has officially secured a direct spot in the Tactical Cup II and earned a place in the APAC Finals of Teamfight Tactics Set 14.

Sharing his thoughts after being crowned champion, Vu said: “Every match was a journey to conquer myself. I was very surprised, even overwhelmed, because the result far exceeded my initial expectations. I’m proud to have contributed, even in a small way, to the growth of Vietnamese eSports.”

Recalling his path to the title, Nguyen Vu shared: “To become the champion, I played a total of 19 matches over three consecutive days, overcoming strong opponents from eSports powerhouses like Korea, Japan, and Taiwan-China.” He also emphasized that the greatest challenge was the intensity of continuous matches and the high demands for strategy and skill in every game.

Although this was his first appearance at an international tournament, Vu said that the learning environment at FPT University helped him prepare well in terms of technological thinking, problem-solving skills, and especially resilience and perseverance. “There were moments when I dropped quite far in the rankings, which made me even more tense. However, that pressure pushed me to adjust my strategy and allowed me to break through in each round,” Vu shared.

The Tactical Cup is part of the international professional Teamfight Tactics tournament system organized by Riot Games — a leading global game publisher known for titles like League of Legends, Valorant, and Teamfight Tactics. The event brings together the top players from each region to compete for slots at the World Championship. It is a premier arena for the best “tacticians” in Teamfight Tactics, a turn-based strategy game that is rapidly growing in the global eSports community.
