Representative from the Academy of Cryptography Techniques wins championship title at FPTU SecAthon 2025, while FPT University teams secure Second, Third, and Consolation prizes. Through this specialized cybersecurity competition, FPT University continues to affirm its commitment to training a generation of IT engineers equipped with practical skills, global mindset, and international competitiveness.
On July 27, after more than two months since its launch, the final round of the FPTU SecAthon 2025 — a specialized cybersecurity contest organized by FPT University — took place simultaneously in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Can Tho. A total of 123 teams representing universities, academies, and colleges nationwide, including the Military Technical Academy, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, FPT University, University of Information Technology, and FPT Polytechnic College, entered the competition with strong determination.

After an intense competition, team Kerberos from the Academy of Cryptography Techniques claimed the championship title with a prize of VND 10 million, followed by team Breaking Bad and team Konosec from FPT University winning the Second and Third prizes worth VND 7 million and VND 5 million respectively. Two teams, PTIT.Lugia (Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology) and EHC_fumosquad (FPT University), shared the Consolation prize, each receiving VND 3 million. In addition, the SecAthon organizers also presented several special awards to teams with outstanding performances, encouraging the learning spirit and competitive drive of young participants.

FPTU SecAthon 2025 is a competition organized by FPT University for students from universities and colleges nationwide. The contest follows the CTF Jeopardy (Capture The Flag) format – a popular format in the global cybersecurity community – featuring challenges in six key areas: Cryptography, Reverse Engineering, Web Exploitation, Forensics, Binary Exploitation, and Miscellaneous. Teams compete in a knockout format, with each team consisting of three to four members.
Dr. Ngo Tung Son – Head of the Information Security Department at FPT University and Head of the SecAthon 2025 technical committee – highly praised the participating teams’ capabilities. He noted that with the same set of challenges, teams demonstrated highly innovative and creative solutions. He shared: “The competition provides young participants with an opportunity to learn from one another, gain practical experience, and prepare for larger national and international arenas. At the same time, FPTU SecAthon 2025 contributes to building and fostering the information security community in Vietnam.”
