FPTU students triumph at VietFuture Awards 2025: TaskSpace and ReHistoria showcase young creativity

Two tech startup projects by students of FPT University (FPTU) have won the First Prize and Potential Prize at VietFuture Awards 2025, a national startup competition organized by the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) for innovative student projects from universities and colleges across the country.

The project management app TaskSpace impressed the judging panel and claimed the First Prize. Meanwhile, ReHistoria – an augmented reality (AR) application for exploring historical sites – was honored with the Potential Prize. This dual success not only marked a proud achievement for FPTU but also highlighted the creativity and technological adaptability of the young generation.

TaskSpace: An effective academic project management solution

Developed by a group of Software Engineering students including Phan Quoc Thai (K15), Tran Dinh Thien Tan (K17), and Nguyen Gia Huy (K17), TaskSpace was born from real challenges faced by students and lecturers in using complex enterprise-oriented project management tools. The app offers a user-friendly interface, enabling lecturers to track study progress and evaluate teamwork efficiency, while allowing students to easily create accounts, initiate projects, connect, and assign tasks.

For students, TaskSpace simplifies group work from project initiation to completion. After registration and email confirmation, users can log in and either create a new project or join existing ones by submitting participation requests. Group leaders manage approvals, ensuring smooth collaboration.

One of TaskSpace’s core features is structured task management. Group leaders can assign specific tasks to members, with progress automatically updated based on completed tasks. This transparent system helps both teams and lecturers monitor outcomes effectively.

For lecturers, TaskSpace serves as a time management and student support tool, especially in scheduling online meetings. Lecturers can set their available times in the “Schedule” section, visible to students for booking. Once booked, the status shifts from “Available” to “Booked.” By clicking on the time slot, lecturers can view project details and join meetings directly. This streamlined process prevents scheduling conflicts and enhances lecturer-student interaction. From the main dashboard, lecturers can also access projects they supervise, track progress, and provide timely feedback.

Beyond being a concept, TaskSpace has already attracted nearly 7,000 users, including over 3,000 active users and more than 500 projects. Currently serving FPT University and education organization AET, TaskSpace is also an official partner of Google and Nvidia. The project secured USD 2,000 in sponsorship from Google Cloud and NVIDIA through their startup support program. “We had to provide detailed product, development, and business plans for Google’s evaluation. Their staff later contacted us directly to assess how we use Google tools and plan for the funding,” shared Tran Dinh Thien Tan.

Recognition and support from leading tech giants not only validate TaskSpace’s potential but also open new opportunities to scale up and integrate advanced technologies in the future.

ReHistoria: Bringing heritage home with AR

Alongside TaskSpace, ReHistoria also made a strong impression at VietFuture Awards 2025 with its socially meaningful concept: reviving cultural and historical heritage through augmented reality. Motivated by the challenge of making heritage more accessible to young people, the FPTU student team – including Do Phan Minh Quan (International Business, K17), Nguyen Phan Thuc Anh (Multimedia Communication, K17), Do Ngoc Linh (Digital Marketing, K18), Luong Nguyen Anh Thu (Digital Marketing, K17), Vo Hoang Kiet (Software Engineering, K17), Tran Van Duc (Digital Marketing, K17), Nguyen Huu Nghia (Digital Art & Design, K18), and Truong Minh Hoang (Software Engineering, K17) – developed ReHistoria: Historical Footprints.

Tác giả của dự án ReHistoria – Dấu chân lịch sử

ReHistoria is a mobile AR app that brings heritage into users’ physical spaces. Instead of transporting people to a virtual world, it recreates monuments like Dien Thai Hoa at true scale inside a living room, offering a vivid sense of size and presence.

Users begin by selecting a heritage site from the app’s database. Their phone camera scans the room to build a 3D map, projecting a miniature AR model. With one tap, the model can expand to 1:1 scale. For sites larger than the room, a “Lock Position” feature enables users to walk around while maintaining alignment with the virtual space.

A key highlight of ReHistoria is its interactive storytelling. The app integrates AR-based puzzles, requiring users to engage with artifacts to unlock hidden stories—for example, reconstructing a broken ceramic vase instead of passively listening to narration.

Before its recognition at VietFuture Awards, ReHistoria had already achieved notable results: Third Prize at Games Craft Arena 2025 (organized by FPT University and 3DArchtech), acceptance into DNES’s FINC+ pre-incubation program, and support from the Hue Monuments Conservation Center. The project also collaborates with 3D Archtech Studio, which provides both training and technical assistance to further develop the app.

From classroom to startup ecosystem

Both TaskSpace and ReHistoria originated from the Entrepreneurship Development course at FPT University. Within its ecosystem centered on AI, STEM, and innovation, FPTU encourages students to freely experiment, launch tech startups, and turn community-oriented ideas into reality. These projects stand as both a source of pride for students and proof of FPTU’s role in nurturing and supporting young talents on their entrepreneurial journey.

The success of TaskSpace and ReHistoria at VietFuture Awards 2025 reaffirms FPT University’s practice-oriented education model. These projects not only demonstrate students’ creativity in addressing pressing social issues—from academic management to heritage conservation—but also expand opportunities for entrepreneurship, spreading both technological and humanistic values. This achievement further strengthens FPTU’s position as a cradle for the next generation ready to embrace the digital future.
