“Local Exchange” is a special program at FPT University, offering students the opportunity to participate in an exchange semester at one of the university’s five campuses located in major cities (Hanoi, Da Nang, Quy Nhon, Ho Chi Minh City, and Can Tho). This program provides a unique chance to explore new horizons, travel, and enhance personal skills and independence.
To diversify cultural experiences and create opportunities for exploration and self-reliance, FPT University regularly organizes Local Exchange programs with a variety of exciting activities. Students at the university often refer to this program as a “domestic study abroad” opportunity, as it allows them to experience different campuses across cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho, and Quy Nhon.

Throughout the Local Exchange semester, students will experience a new learning environment with FPT University’s modern, fully-equipped campus, and, importantly, will participate in journeys to explore the beauty, culture, and distinctive local cuisine.
“Last September, I said goodbye to Saigon and boarded a train to FPT University – Quy Nhon Campus for the Local Exchange program. Even though I was stepping into a new area, there was no overwhelming feeling of being lost or confused because the facilities at FPT University are excellent everywhere. However, the joy and excitement were always present, especially since Quy Nhon has so many travel destinations to explore,” shared Bui Nhat Tan (Class of 2017, majoring in Artificial Intelligence, FPT University – HCM Campus).

Tan recounts his Local Exchange experience in Quy Nhon, where he stayed in the dormitory with many new friends, enjoying activities such as studying, playing, and exploring popular tourist spots like: The Thon Beach, Linh Phong Pagoda, Quang Trung Museum, Ban Chien Tower, and Thien Hung Pagoda. The fresh air, blue seas, white sands, and the friendliness of the Quy Nhon people left a lasting impression on the young man from Saigon.
In addition to academic activities, sightseeing, and exploring, Local Exchange students like Tan also had the opportunity to visit FPT Software’s headquarters in Quy Nhon, where they were taught specialized knowledge by company veterans. “We were given real-world assignments and projects. Even now, the senior colleagues continue to be our mentors, always ready to help when we have questions, explain company culture, and how teamwork works… These experiences are invaluable for my future career and life,” Tan shared.
Based on his own experience, Tan believes that as a student at FPT University, one should not miss the opportunity of the Local Exchange program. It allows students to enhance their professional skills and soft skills while exploring new places and making new friends. “These will certainly be valuable experiences and unforgettable memories,” the student emphasized.
In addition to the Local Exchange semester, FPT University also organizes many other programs to offer students opportunities for learning and internships both domestically and internationally, such as Company Tours and OJT (On The Job Training). These programs provide excellent opportunities for FPT students to enhance their knowledge, improve their soft skills, and find job opportunities even while still studying.
