Understanding ACBSP and its value to FPT Education

From February 26 to 28, 2025, FSB Hanoi (FPT School of Business and Technology) welcomed a delegation of ACBSP experts for the official accreditation of its Master of Business Administration program.

What is ACBSP, and why does its accreditation matter in higher education? This article explores the role of international accreditation in ensuring and enhancing academic quality.

I. Overview

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) is an international accrediting organization headquartered in the United States. Established in 1988, it currently has over 1,116 member institutions in 11 regions around the world.

ACBSP accredits business-related programs and degrees at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Its accreditation standards focus on teaching excellence, high academic standards, and student success in the evaluated programs.

Therefore, in order to achieve accreditation from this organization, an educational institution and its programs must strictly meet criteria in terms of infrastructure, faculty, program management, learning outcomes, and student support services.

II. ACBSP accreditation standards

Standard 1 – Leadership
Establish and implement systematic leadership processes to promote excellence and continuous improvement, while integrating values, mission, and social responsibility.

Standard 2 – Strategic Planning
Develop a formal and structured strategic planning process that links goals, budget, and performance indicators to ensure ongoing improvement in operations.

Standard 3 – Student and Stakeholder Focus
Clearly define student and stakeholder groups, gather and analyze feedback, assess satisfaction, and use the insights to improve teaching and management practices.

Standard 4 – Student Learning Assessment
Establish and implement a systematic assessment process to evaluate student learning outcomes, ensure teaching goals are met, and continuously enhance the curriculum.

Standard 5 – Faculty Focus
Ensure that faculty members are competent, regularly evaluated, and provided with professional development, thereby supporting teaching effectiveness and achieving program goals.

Standard 6 – Curriculum
Continuously manage and improve academic programs to ensure the content aligns with industry and market requirements, helping students meet career expectations.

Standard 7 – Business Unit Performance
Evaluate institutional effectiveness through the implementation of processes, measurement of outcomes, and continuous improvement to meet business and academic goals.

III. The value of ACBSP accreditation for FE

FPT University became a member of ACBSP in 2016 and was officially accredited in 2019 for its Bachelor of Business Administration program in Hanoi.

Achieving ACBSP accreditation for the Business Administration program at this level:

  • Is an objective testament to the educational quality of FPT University
  • Encourages the continuous improvement of business-related disciplines at FPT University, bringing international standards into its programs
  • Demonstrates the prestige of FPT Education within the network of ACBSP-accredited schools and programs

This accreditation journey also paved the way for the recent site visit of ACBSP to FSB’s MBA program.

As FPT Education continues its journey toward international benchmarks, ACBSP accreditation stands not only as a mark of quality, but as a commitment to continuous growth, global alignment, and student success.
