Spreading education for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the community: FPT University brings SDGs knowledge to students, residents, alumni and disadvantaged areas

Education SDGs at FPT University does not stop at the lecture hall. From school students across the country, ward and commune officials and alumni to ethnic-minority communities in remote mountains, our university proactively brings knowledge, technology and people to the community, to spread understanding of and action for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each activity below is more than a class: it brings the SDGs:  quality education (SDG 4), reduced inequalities (SDG 10), innovation and digital infrastructure (SDG 9), effective institutions (SDG 16), closer to the community.

Project “AI Young Guru” responsible-AI education for school students, for SDG 4 and SDG 9

AI Young Guru is a nationwide artificial-intelligence competition for secondary-school students, led by FPT University in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention.

What makes it special: before competing, every registered student gets free access to three AI lessons on Coursera platform, written by FPT University Outstanding Lecturer, to build a solid foundation. Students then form teams and compete through three rounds, with finalists winning valuable prizes. The results are impressive: 15,397 registrations and 8,004 students completing three AI Coursera lessons, from 1,687 schools across 34 provinces and cities. More than a contest, AI Young Guru is an educational programme: it helps students across the country understand what AI is, use it safely and responsibly, and put technology to work for learning, innovation and sustainable development.

Free courses on technology for sustainable development for the community and alumni

The university runs free training courses for the community and alumni, helping working people update their skills, especially in technology, AI and how to apply them for the Sustainable Development Goals. Students spreading digital skills for effective governance and an developing society (SDG 16, SDG 10)

From Quang Ninh province, Hanoi, Da Nang city and Gia Lai province to Ho Chi Minh City, groups of FPTU students regularly go to localities to support two-level local governments in digital transformation: guiding officials and residents to use online public services, apply AI at work and get familiar with digital platforms. Students bring knowledge to the community while learning valuable real-world lessons from residents themselves.

Digital learning resources for Dien Bien province: equitable education, leaving no one behind (SDG 4, SDG 10)

In remote mountain areas, the digital divide is still wide. FPT has donated nine digital libraries and AI-powered learning accounts to students in the Dien Bien province, helping to bring knowledge and technology closer to province, home to many ethnic-minority communities. The gift gives highland teachers and students more tools to teach and learn — a small step towards narrowing the educational gap between regions.
