Ever wondered where your ideas about the university and student life actually go? At FPT University, the answer lies in organisations that students create and elect themselves. Recently there were two milestones: the 7th Youth Union Congress electing a new Executive Committee, and a conference of club representatives founding a Student Union. Both are student-elected, accompanied by the university and publicly acknowledged.
Democratic elections: the 7th FPT University Youth Union Congress, 2024–2027 term
On 12 April 2025, at The Earth room, F-Ville 3, Hoa Lac, the 7th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of FPT University concluded successfully after two sessions. Delegates reviewed the 6th term (2022–2024), debated the new term’s direction, and cast their own ballots to elect a 21-member Executive Committee, then introduced a 7-member Standing Committee.

The 7th FPT University Youth Union Congress.
The Youth Union represents students across campuses and acts as a bridge between students and the university, so that students’ voices, rights and interests are heard in university-wide activities and policies. It evaluates itself, sets its own goals and elects its own leaders, the self-governance SDG 16 calls transparent, accountable and participatory institutions.
A self-governed campus Student Union founded and elected by club representatives
Beyond the Youth Union, our students also founded their own Student Union. On the afternoon of 25 May 2026, in Room 107, the Personal Development Department PDP and club executive boards met to establish the FPT University A.I Quy Nhon Campus Student Union, bringing together the campus’s student club representatives. Quy Nhon has 15 clubs and this was one of five student conferences held across the university’s five campuses, which together host 169 student clubs. Its purpose is a connected environment where clubs coordinate, support each other and grow together rather than work in isolation, strengthening teamwork, peer learning and meaningful student-life activities.

The Executive Board Union has 01 President, 02 Vice Presidents and committee members. Candidates and voters are club presidents or vice presidents. The count was overseen by two randomly selected club representatives; once all parties agreed on the result, the new Executive Board was announced: a President from the FPTU Quy Nhon English Club and two Vice Presidents from the FPT Instruments Traditional, and Information Technology Clubs. Students stood, voted and supervised themselves, with the university accompanying the process. That is what makes a students’ union independent.
University recognition: leadership attendance, support and publication on official channels
The university’s recognition of these student bodies is shown in concrete action. The Youth Union Congress was held with the approval and support of the Board of Management; a Vice Rector attended the second session, acknowledged the previous term’s contribution and discussed three priorities for the new term: values and civic education, technology-driven ways of working, and quality member development. A representative of the Hanoi Municipal Youth Union also attended. For the Student Union, Student Affairs Office, Personal Development Department, took part in and accompanied the founding meeting.
The Congress results were published on the official “Tuổi trẻ Đại học FPT” page, where Union activities are shared publicly. The presence of university leaders and units, together with transparent publication, is how our university acknowledges the role of student-elected representatives. Got feedback on student life? FPTU’s student organizations have actively implemented activities across three key areas:
- Contributing to governance: The Student Union maintains channels for feedback and policy dialogue with the university to foster sustainable development.
- Supporting students: Assisting with academics, daily life, and career guidance, while safeguarding student rights.
- Social engagement: Organizing events, volunteer work, cultural and sports activities, and student clubs.
Student support and social activities
The Youth Union and the Student Union run leadership training, academic competitions and social projects. In January 2025, ahead of Lunar New Year, the Youth Union and FPT High School Hanoi brought Tet gifts, games and music to children and elderly residents at the Vietnam Friendship Village. For the Student Union, connecting clubs helps every event and community activity reach more students.

FU Da Nang Student Union presents gifts to students from mountainous areas for the 2025 Lunar New Year.
Conclusion: Student-elected Youth Union and Student Union, acknowledged by FPT University, give students a voice in university governance (SDG 16).
From the ballots of the 7th Youth Union Congress to the founding of the Student Union, FPT University students show they are not just beneficiaries but co-creators of their university. So are you — a vote, an idea or a volunteer day are all ways to make your voice heard.
