FPT University gives students access to free mental health support

Good mental health at FPT University is treated as an everyday responsibility, not a once-a-year initiative. Across its campuses, the university gives students access to a standing, free psychological counseling service, backs student-led communities built specifically to promote mental wellbeing, and keeps introducing new activities that turn conversations about stress, anxiety, and emotional wellbeing into something normal rather than taboo.

A Standing and Free Counseling Service Open to Every Student

Since 2016, FPT University Ha Noi campus has run a dedicated Psychological Counseling Office, known to students by its facebook page “Cóc Kể Counseling Office”, giving every student free and confidential access to professional mental health support. Housed in Room 310R of the Alpha Building and open 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekdays, the office lets students book a session directly at the office or remotely, through a Google Form, email, or its Facebook page, with sessions kept strictly confidential under a signed privacy agreement. Throughout the year 2025, a total of 431 student counseling and mental support sessions were conducted.

The Psychological Counseling Office organized mental health care activities for FPTU students.

That access is renewed with every incoming class rather than left for students to discover on their own. In September 2026, the office again introduced itself to new students during Orientation Week to welcome freshmen, walking the incoming K22 cohort through how to reach out and book a free session — a reminder that access to mental health support begins on day one at FPT University, not only once a problem has already grown serious.

Moreover, in 2025, there were 1,991 FPT University students participating in mental healthcare skills courses and wellbeing-related activities. In addition, a total of 9,395 students who were freshmen completed different kinds of short courses in fire prevention, first aid, and emergency care during their first week on campus.

Turning a Student Capstone Project Into a Mental Health Awareness Campaign

Active promotion of good mental health also runs through FPT University Can Tho’s own classrooms. Under the Multimedia Communications curriculum, a graduating team of students carried out “Đến Trạm Nghe Chạm” (Come to the Listening Station), a capstone project built specifically to raise Gen Z mental health awareness and give students a safe space to name what they are struggling with.

The “Come to the Listening Station” project aims to raise mental health awareness among Gen Z-ers.

The project unfolded as four experiential stations — Trạm Hiểu (Understanding), Trạm Nói (Speaking), Trạm Làm (Creating), and Trạm Kỷ Niệm (Memory-Building) — that walked participating students through recognizing and coping with the psychological strain caused by self-comparison, academic pressure, and social media. It was followed by a professional talkshow with mental health experts, Dr. Nguyen Minh Thuy Chau and Dr. Tran Thien Thang, and an open Q&A session addressing depression, FOMO, and ADHD directly and without stigma.

“HEM – Heart, Empathy & Mental”: A Long-term Mental Health Support Project for Students in Ho Chi Minh City

At Ho Chi Minh City campus, FPT University stands directly behind “HEM – Heart, Empathy & Mental”, a community dedicated to raising mental health awareness among its students. This initiative is led by student volunteering, however, the university keeps its own guidance and support behind HEM through enthusiastic officers, giving it both institutional backing and a voice students find easy and comfortable to approach. Free to join and open to the whole student body, HEM keeps developing fresh programming semester by semester rather than running a single campaign and going quiet.

The “HEM” project has organized numerous sessions where students share their psychological concerns.

HEM also keeps its programming directly grounded in students’ mental health needs rather than general wellbeing content. On 7 – 8 September 2025, the project ran “Miền Thư Giãn” (Relaxation Zone), a two-day workshop built specifically around a segment on mental and emotional burnout. As a result, the workshop succeeded beyond its expectations when it attracted many students participating in stress-free activities — a sign that this channel keeps producing mental-health-specific content serving for students’ psychology-related issues.

Free and Campus-Wide Stress Relief Through “Anti Stress Anti Pressure 2025”

Promoting good mental health at FPT University also takes the shape of large, informal, campus-wide events built to help students release stress before it builds up. On June 26, 2025, FPT University hosted “Anti Stress Anti Pressure 2025” (ASAP 2025), a free, day-long event organized by the Cóc Sài Gòn Communication Club (CSG) in the lobby of the campus’s first and second floors.

The event title “ASAP 2025” stands for “Anti Stress, Anti Pressure” serving for FPTU students.

Running from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with no admission fee, ASAP 2025 gave students free access to creative, hands-on activities — workshops, a photo booth, and themed booths — designed around one simple idea: give students a guilt-free outlet to unwind together rather than absorb academic pressure alone. ASAP 2025 quickly generated a buzz, drawing nearly 1,000 participants to the stress-free game booths and handmade workshop areas. Additionally, the event made its mark by achieving over 45,000 impressions and more than 1,000 social media interactions.

The “ASAP 2025” organized different kinds of creative and stress-released activities and boothgames.

Interestingly, the event’s own name carries a deliberate twist: “ASAP” is best known as shorthand for doing things as fast as possible, yet the program pointed students in the opposite direction. In a generation used to constant urgency, ASAP 2025 made the case that learning to slow down and manage stress is what actually protects long-term mental wellbeing — turning the acronym itself into a quiet reminder that not everything in young people’s lives needs to be rushed.

The “ASAP 2025” event successfully attracted nearly 1,000 student participants.

Extending the Mental Health Sessions to Wider Gen Z Audiences

FPT University’s promotion of good mental health also reaches beyond its own gates, and that outward-facing work reflects directly on how the university treats its own students. On January 4, 2025, FPT University organized the seminar “Gen Z: Lắng Nghe Chính Mình” (Gen Z: Listen to Yourself), drawing more than 1,700 students from Phan Châu Trinh High School (Da Nang) and led by psychologist Dr. To Nhi A. This seminar was part of a campaign aimed at the students’ mental health outreach, titled “FPT University Companions with Gen Z to Explore the Inner World”.

The seminar “Gen Z: Listen to Yourself” is a part of mental health outreach campaign hosted by FPTU.

The seminar used the same open, interactive Q&A format FPT University relies on with its own student body — helping young people understand their inner world, manage pressure, and approach their future with more confidence and self-awareness. Reaching well over a thousand students in a single session shows the scale FPT University can bring to mental health outreach, built on the same self-awareness and stress-navigation approach its counseling office and student communities put to work for FPT University’s own students all year round.

The seminar attracted a large number of students by focusing on the inner-world and mental health.

Conclusion:

Taken together, a standing free counseling office, a classroom-driven awareness campaign, a long-term mental health community, a free campus-wide stress-relief event, and an outward-facing seminar built on the same expertise all point to the same conclusion: FPT University gives its students real, free, and continually renewed access to mental health support, and treats actively promoting good mental health as a responsibility that runs through the whole academic year, from confidential one-on-one counseling to campus-wide events run throughout 2025 and into 2026.
