Chapter IV, Article 22 of the FPT University SDG Policy directly states the rule as: “No smoking, including electronic cigarettes, on FPT University campus”.
Purpose of Statement
FPT University aims to give every student, staff member, and visitor a safe, healthy place to learn and work. The university has kept a formal no-smoking policy in place since 2006 — when it was established, built to protect the community’s health, support wellbeing, and back the institution’s wider environmental commitments.
The policy follows Vietnam’s Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms (Law No. 09/2012/QH13) and Directive No. 56/2007/CT-BGDDT issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, both of which bar smoking in classrooms and other workspaces at educational institutions nationwide. FPT University reviews and updates the policy every year, most recently in 2026, so that it keeps pace with national health regulations and the university’s own sustainable development goals.
Scope of Application
The policy covers every FPT University campus nationwide, indoors and outdoors alike — classrooms, laboratories, dormitories, cafeterias, offices, parking areas, sports facilities, and green spaces are all included. It applies to anyone present on campus, including students, faculty, staff, contractors, and even visitors.
Policy Statement
- Smoking and the use of any tobacco product is prohibited everywhere on campus.
- Selling, distributing, or promoting tobacco products on campus grounds is not permitted.
- The university asks every member of its community to help keep the air clean and to model healthy behavior for others.
Monitoring and Enforcement
FPT University backs the policy with ongoing awareness efforts, regular compliance checks, and disciplinary action where needed, so the campus stays smoke-free in practice and not only on paper. Around its campuses, the university displays “No Smoking” signage, including cigarettes and e-cigarettes, in classrooms, dormitories, offices, dining areas, sports fields, restrooms and other shared spaces as a constant, visible reminder of the rule.

“No Smoking” signs are placed at visible spots, part of the signage FPT University displays across its campuses to reinforce the smoke-free policy.
Policy Review and Update
The policy was first issued in 2006 and has since been revised to stay current, most recently in 2026.
