FPT University (FPTU) is a private school founded by an enterprise, FPT Corporation, in Vietnam. Now, it has five campuses in the North, Central, and South of Vietnam, with a large training scale of 45,000 students. The green FPTU campus has been a no-wall campus from the beginning, open to community members and visitors to enter and exit freely on foot. All people can access it for free to take advantage of the beautiful and green environment of the school for leisure or exercise. If representatives from companies, local authorities, and so on would like to visit the campus, feel free to register through the link https://daihoc.fpt.edu.vn/truong-thanh-vien/dang-ky-tham-quan/ to receive the support and guidelines or introduction about the campus of our tour guides.
There are many buildings and spaces with distinctive and historical significance on the campus, which are all free and open to the public to visit, including:
Alpha building – A Dragon-shaped building at FPTU Hanoi
Located in Hightech Park Hoa Lac, Thach That, 34 km away from Hanoi city, the project “Administrative Building of FPT University” is a significant building with a surrounding green landscape to welcome students and visitors and as an impressive place in the city. The soft shape of this building is combined with stacked concrete blocks, reminding us of a dragon flying in the sky, making a special impression on FPT University. Each block is designed to get lighting and natural air through in this project to save energy consumption and adapt to back-to-back situations happening frequently in Hanoi. The roof of the building is covered by green, big plants to create a fresh space for staff and to protect sunlight for the whole building.
The project is a modern 7-story building with a green facade and green roof. The facade is designed alternatively with solid and opening checkerboards. Big 1-floor trees are planted in the opening checkerboards and make staff and students working in this building feel the greenery of parks.
Here are some places in the Alpha Building where you can check in.
FPT University’s green design is so inviting, it almost makes us want to go back to school.
Green hill building at FPTU Ho Chi Minh City
FPT University Ho Chi Minh City is built in the High-Tech Park District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, where high-tech companies such as Intel (USA), Nidec (Japan),… and modern scientific and technical research centers are concentrated. The flat terrain is typical of the Mekong Delta in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular. Therefore, the architects came up with the idea of building blocks with a winding shape like a mountain covered with green trees, creating a highlight of the area.
Featuring various green spaces that promote students and staff’s interactions and well-being, such as tree-covered rooftops, balconies, and a plant-filled courtyard. The green tree system is also one of the factors that make this place unique. This is the combination of nature and people, helping teachers and students have a clean and comfortable working and learning environment. The campus is described as the city’s new icon of sustainability and a social gathering attraction.
In particular, the FPT University campus in Ho Chi Minh City also has photo corners where you can play and take photos, such as the “super giant” chess board area, table tennis practice area, physical fitness area, or a very “cool” outdoor coffee corner. All you need to do is “relax” and let FPT University campus in Ho Chi Minh City take care of the rest of the beautiful space.
Moreover, the dance version of singer Duc Phuc was performed at FPT University, Ho Chi Minh City, in an extremely modern and green space that is suitable for students and in harmony with nature.
Penrose Hall
The Penrose lobby has Penrose-patterned floors and luxurious black-and-white tones, so just checking in is guaranteed to be beautiful. Just pose for a beautiful photo and capture the entire Penrose lobby space.
Bronze drums
Bronze drums symbolize the longevity of FPT University and can be seen in the main hall of each of our campuses. The drums were made of solid bronze and designed according to the ancient Dong Son’s Hy Cuong bronze drum, dating from 2,500 to 2,300 years ago. They were crafted by well-known artists in the most prestigious bronze foundries in Thanh Hoa province, Vietnam. We hope that when FPT University students walk into the building, the bronze drum will remind them of the country’s origins, culture, and history, while its sounds remind them of national history and good luck.
Famous statues
The famous sculpture of the 19th-century French artist Auguste Rodin, The Thinker, was inaugurated at FPT University. This famous statue is considered a symbol of human beauty, symbolizing strength and the protection of freedom. At the same time, it brings a message that emphasizes thinking in study and work and sends the wish that students have many interesting experiences in the process of sticking with the school. Along with prestigious universities such as Stanford University, Columbia University, Tsing Hua University, and many famous universities in countries such as the US, Switzerland, India, and Taiwan,… FPT University is the 8th university to own this statue.
“The Thinker” statue is located in an easy-to-see location, so all off-campus people can free access and check in with the statue.
Toad Museum
Many newcomers to FPT University wonder why everything at school is attached to a toad. For example, the teachers are the Teaching Toad, the students are the Study Toad (sometimes Understanding Toad), the Board of Directors is the Approve Toad, the good students are the Golden Toad, and the museum displays many Toads. When you have questions, you will get the answer: “FPT University mascot is the toad.”.
The Toad Museum is unique at FPT University Hanoi. The toad is the symbol of Vietnamese farmers, representing their desire for good crops. Therefore, FPT University has chosen the toad as its mascot. There is a collection of toad statues in the museum.
World Hypepr-Inflation Banknote Museum
The museum “Hyper-Inflation: What’s the point of having lots of money?” is known as the first and only inflation currency museum in Vietnam. Prof. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the FPT University Council, spent 15 years searching and collecting all coins in the museum. Each design on display at the museum is also designed by himself.
The Museum introduces the history of inflation – world hyperinflation and displays a collection of more than 300 coins with denominations of 1 million or more from about 30 countries during nearly 100 years (1921 – 2019), including countries: Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bolivia, Bosnia, China, Croatia, Georgia, Germany, Greece Hungary, Iran, Nicaragua, Peru, Poland, Romania, Russia, Transcaucasia, Turkey, Ukraine, Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Zaire (Congo), Zimbabwe, etc.
