An increasing number of students from FPT University are participating in international internships with the desire to work in a multinational environment and pursue high-income job opportunities after graduation.
Doan Minh Hieu and Trinh Van Hieu Thao, currently third-year students majoring in International Business at FPT University’s Can Tho branch, have successfully secured a one-year internship position (September 2023 – September 2024) at Tsuwa Corporation in Japan, facilitated through the university’s connections. During their internship, they will receive a monthly salary of 116,272 yen (approximately 23 million VND) and enjoy welfare benefits such as flight expenses to Japan covered by the company.

Beforehand, both of them relentlessly studied to improve their Japanese communication skills and participated in extracurricular activities to develop soft skills and accumulate practical experience. Minh Hiếu also dedicated time to understanding the culture and work environment, enabling him to quickly integrate and work effectively in the country from the first month.
During his nine-month tenure in the renowned country known for discipline, Minh Hiếu deeply ingrained meticulous work style, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility. Regular interaction with colleagues from various countries such as the United States, South Korea, Myanmar, Nepal, and China also contributed to broadening his worldview, enriching his knowledge of cultural diversity, and enhancing his ability to work in a global environment as a student from Can Tho.
Minh Hieu took advantage of his overseas opportunity to further understand Japanese customs and lifestyle through cultural exchange activities, participating in festivals and events after work hours.
According to Hieu Thao, students participating in internships in Japan or other countries receive income and allowances from businesses based on initial agreements. The income for each student in Japan ranges from 20 to 35 million VND, depending on each company’s policy. Therefore, many students from FPT University choose to intern abroad to develop comprehensive skills in their field, life skills, and seek employment opportunities in the international market after graduation.
After 9 months of work, both students realized that FPT University’s training program emphasizes practical application and real-world skills, enabling them to quickly adapt to a market that demands high-quality labor and stringent criteria like Japan.

FPT University provides a dynamic environment focused on educating skills that businesses require. The internship period is crucial as it helps students learn how to apply textbook knowledge and absorb new insights from those who have gone before. The closer I work with companies, the more I realize the practical relevance and usefulness of the field I am studying,” emphasized Hieu Thao.
