FPT University has secured one first-place and three second-place awards in the 2024 ICPC regional rounds, advancing to the national stage as the leading private university in the rankings.

The four winning teams include: FPTU HN New Era – first place in the Northern region, FPTU HN Old Era – second place in the Northern region, and FPTU HCM Dolphin and FPTU HCM Broken Heart – second place in the Southern region. In the regional rounds, these teams outperformed nearly 2,000 competitors from universities nationwide. All team members are Information Technology students at FPT University.

“With guidance from advisors, students proactively studied previous competition problems, learned through the internet, and gained insights from past participants,” the representative added.

The FPT University teams are expected to compete in the national ICPC competition, which will be held online at their campus in November.

ICPC is a long-standing programming competition with over 50 years of history, often referred to as the “Olympics” for IT students. From the national ICPC competition, the organizers will select 100 outstanding university teams to advance to the Student Informatics Olympics and ICPC Asia Hanoi, held at Hanoi University of Industry from December 10-13.

Vietnam first participated in the ICPC in 2005. Since then, Vietnamese teams have consistently placed in the top 100-140 in the ICPC global finals.
