At the Vietnam – Korea Economic Forum 2025, FPT University signed a cooperation agreement with Gachon University (Korea) to train a new generation of high-tech talent, ready to meet the demand of the semiconductor industry and other advanced technology sectors of the future.
Cooperation in high-tech human resources training with Gachon University
On August 12, FPT University and Gachon University signed a cooperation agreement in the presence of General Secretary To Lam, Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok, and senior leaders of both countries.
According to the agreement, FPT University and Gachon University will strengthen cooperation through student exchange and training (including undergraduate and postgraduate levels); joint training programs; exchange of lecturers, scholars, and experts; sharing of documents, academic publications, and research information; and other academic exchange activities. The partnership is expected to improve the quality of technology human resource training, promote academic connectivity, and foster knowledge exchange between Vietnam and Korea.
Gachon University is among Korea’s leading institutions, well known for its strength in information technology, semiconductors, data science, artificial intelligence, and its close ties with major corporations such as Samsung, LG, and SK Hynix.
Meanwhile, FPT University is one of the pioneers in Vietnam in training software engineering, information security, artificial intelligence, and semiconductor design according to international standards, closely aligned with industry needs. In 2025, the university ranked 80th in Employment and Economic Growth in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. The school also advanced to the Top 301–400 globally in overall sustainable development impact and maintained its position in the Top 101–200 for Quality Education. This marks the third consecutive year FPT University has risen in the rankings after four years of participation.
The partnership with Gachon University opens opportunities for FPTU students to access international programs, experience modern learning environments in Korea, and join research projects with leading lecturers and experts. Students will not only strengthen technical knowledge but also develop language skills, global mindset, and adaptability in multicultural workplaces – key factors to succeed in the high-tech labor market at home and abroad.
FPT Corporation partners with ABOV Semiconductor to develop next-generation chips
Alongside education cooperation, during its trip to Korea, FPT Corporation also expanded technology collaboration to promote the semiconductor industry. Within the framework of the Vietnam – Korea Economic Forum, FPT Corporation signed a strategic agreement with ABOV Semiconductor – a leading Korean semiconductor company specializing in microcontrollers and memory chips. The partnership aims to strengthen research, design, and development of semiconductor chips, while expanding markets and increasing semiconductor applications in Korea.
Both sides will use chips designed by FPT, particularly in the Korean market; launch joint projects in research, design, and development of next-generation chips; and create competitive products as well as other flexible cooperation depending on each project and practical needs.
As part of its semiconductor development plan in Korea, FPT Corporation aims to help build a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem, from human resources to services, towards long-term and sustainable growth. Currently, FPT has strong capability in custom chip design services and plans to expand into advanced packaging and semiconductor testing. Korea, with a semiconductor market valued at around 87 billion USD in 2023, continues to grow thanks to large-scale investments from major corporations.
