Lieutenant Colonel Bui Van Tuan from the Drug Crime Investigation Department (Ministry of Public Security) praised the FPTU students’ proactive spirit and sense of responsibility: “Although still in school, these students have demonstrated a highly positive attitude toward combating drug abuse and promoting a healthy community. The creation of SafeEdu shows not only creativity and dynamism but, more importantly, generates real societal value. This is a practical and impactful product that deserves to be widely promoted.”
From Campus to the “Schools Without Drugs” Competition
SafeEdu was originally conceived during the national competition “Truong hoc khong ma tuy 2024” (Schools Without Drugs 2024), jointly organized by the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Education and Training, and Vietnam Television. The competition attracted over 200 teams from schools nationwide, aiming to build safe and drug-free educational environments.
After successfully passing multiple challenging rounds, the FPT University student team earned the national runner-up title and won First Prize in the Community Project category. The project impressed the jury with its creativity, high applicability, and lasting social impact. Building on this achievement, the team further developed SafeEdu—a technology-driven platform designed to provide knowledge, skills, and consultation for effective and accessible school-based drug prevention.
Breaking Ground with AI in School-Based Drug Prevention
Far beyond a communication idea, SafeEdu is a fully developed and creative technological application that helps raise awareness and provide comprehensive counseling and education for students. Its standout feature is the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) to build a virtual assistant (chatbot). This AI-powered advisor allows students to engage in private conversations, ask questions, and receive expert-level psychological responses from a simulated school counselor.
What sets it apart is that all chatbot responses strictly follow official documents issued by the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Education and Training, ensuring accuracy and reliability. The response tone mirrors that of a trained psychological advisor—empathetic, supportive, and aligned with legal and educational norms.
In addition to the AI chatbot, SafeEdu includes other outstanding features such as a specialized knowledge library, real-time updates on relevant news, and the organization of nationwide online contests (including quizzes and poster competitions). More than just a creative educational platform, it serves as a flexible and cost-effective communication tool for schools to deliver internal awareness campaigns effectively.
Promoting Positive Living and Social Responsibility Through Education
In today’s modern society, education is not only about transmitting knowledge—it is also a journey of shaping character, nurturing positive lifestyles, and inspiring young people to embrace social responsibility. With SafeEdu, a student-led community project from FPT University, technology is harnessed as a modern educational tool—bridging knowledge, emotion, and action.
SafeEdu goes beyond simply equipping students with drug prevention knowledge. It offers a space where learners are heard, understood, and guided toward becoming responsible and proactive citizens.
Currently, the project is being refined and expanded, with plans to roll out to junior and senior high schools nationwide through collaborations with local Departments of Education and youth organizations. Looking ahead, SafeEdu aspires to become part of a broader educational technology ecosystem that supports school-based drug prevention.
