Recently, FPT University announced a strict ban on staff and faculty giving Tet gifts to their superiors, while allowing gifts to be given in the opposite direction.
This annual regulation reflects both FPT University’s and FPT Corporation’s tradition, aiming to foster a positive and civilized culture within the FPT family during the Tet season.
According to the school’s announcement, with the upcoming Tet Giáp Thìn, and in line with the traditions of FPT Corporation and FPT Education Organization (FPT Edu), the leadership of FPT Edu hopes to create a joyful and healthy environment for staff and faculty during the traditional New Year celebration. Thus, they have reiterated the prohibition on staff and faculty giving Tet gifts to their superiors, while gifts from superiors are permitted.
This announcement applies to all units under FPT Edu
According to the leadership of FPT University, the regulation prohibiting Tet gift giving has been in place since the school’s establishment. However, in recent years, as the system has grown and the number of staff and faculty has increased, the school has formalized this policy in writing.
This ensures consistent communication and compliance across the system, so that even with a large increase in the number of staff and faculty, everyone remains aware of, unified in spirit, and adherent to the school’s traditional regulations.
Giving Tet gifts is one of the traditional cultural practices of the Vietnamese people in general
Mr. Le Truong Tung – Chairman of the Board of FPT University – stated: “The school’s announcement about the prohibition on giving Tet gifts this year is mainly a reminder for the new faculty. The veteran staff already knows this…”
Immediately after receiving the school’s announcement, many faculty members shared it on the school’s groups and forums, updating their status with “our tradition.”
The phrase “gifts from superiors are allowed” sparked a lot of interest among students.
Many students commented humorously: “This announcement is so cute; it even has a smiley face emoji!” “Teachers, please give us Tet gifts!” “We’re waiting for our lucky money from the teachers!” “We’re looking forward to Tet gifts from our professors…”
