When we have heard about “sustainable development”, we think its concept is very academic and macro. It is, however, as close as the activities that FPT Education people still do on a daily basis.
Interpreting the theme “Sustainable Development”
The most common definition of “Sustainable Development” is a development in all aspects of the society in the present as well as in the future”. To accomplish so, an individual or organization must prioritize three factors including economy, society, and ecology in a balanced manner. The United Nations has outlined 17 sustainable development goals below to further explain this concept:
- To end poverty in all its forms everywhere
- To end hunger, achieve food security and improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
- To ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing at all ages
- To ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning
- Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
- To ensure access to safe water sources and sanitation for all
- To ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all
- Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all
- Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation
- Reduce inequality within and among countries
- Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable
- Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
- Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
- Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development
- Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
- Promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies
- Revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
FPT Education people aim for “sustainable development” every day
Each FPT Edu person is still contributing to the economy, society, and the ecosystem every day through their work at the organization, their habits, and activities in daily life instead of thinking of doing the “big word” or influencing more or fewer others.
Let’s take a look at a few common activities to which FPT Edu employees from various departments, divisions, and regions have contributed significantly.
- The department of Student Affairs as well as the International Cooperation and Personal Development Program, and members of Soft Skill Subject have organized a number of talk shows, debates, seminars, and small/large-scale contests to help FPT Edu’s students gain a better understanding of ecological concerns (energy sources, biology, climate change, etc.) and social issues (gender equality, welfare, etc.). They are in charge of ensuring students’ mental health by providing “unique” psychological counseling services at FPT Edu.
- The Human Resources Department and Unions ensure that its employees are informed about health, life, insurance, epidemics, and other topics through e-mail and conversations, as well as consultations with specialists.
- Teachers and lecturers’ innovative methods of teaching strategies combined with the philosophy of FPT Edu which is that “education is to organize and manage learners’ self-study”. That develops a human resource with good knowledge and skills to meet the needs of enterprises.
- FPT Edu orients and searches for work prospects for students on a regular basis, which ensures that graduates have the highest employment rate.
- Many FPT Edu employees and lecturers regularly participate in charity activities or donate to community funds, which contribute to poverty and hunger reduction and assist individuals in need.
- FPT Education employees and lecturers strive to adapt to digital transformation every day not only to improve work efficiency but also to save natural resources, the most visible of which is paper.
- The majority of FPT Education campuses are designed to be environmentally friendly, including trees and flowing water ecosystems (rivers, lakes, lagoons, etc.).
- FPT Education is constantly expanding to bring all training systems including universities, colleges, and high schools across the country, allowing people all over the country to have access to advanced education.
- FPT Edu campuses have made significant contributions to the environment and local economic development.
- All employees work hard to improve the quality of the organization as well as the quality of education, which is the output product of FPT Edu.
With the above and many other activities, we can be proud that “FPT Edu people have been really aiming for sustainable development”.
