On the morning of October 20, the FPT University branch in Can Tho, in collaboration with the Mekong Delta Tourism Association, organized the final round of the “Gen Z in Travel in the Digital Age 2024” competition for universities and colleges in the Mekong Delta region.
The competition has the theme “Green Tourism.” According to the organizers, this is an academic playground for students passionate about tourism, who wish to gain practical experience and create connections, as well as learn more about knowledge and skills in the tourism industry. It particularly includes valuable insights from experts, lecturers, and businesses operating in the tourism sector.
Speaking at the final round, Mr. Huynh Van Bay, Deputy Rector of FPT University Can Tho, stated that this competition is designed for young tourism guides studying at universities and colleges with tourism programs.
Through the competition, the organizers hope to discover creative ideas to help develop the tourism industry in the future, thereby contributing to the revival of the green economy.
After more than two months of effort in the preliminary round, the top 22 teams from universities and colleges in the Mekong Delta region entered the final round, divided into four groups.
In this round, the teams participated in a knowledge competition focused on geographical locations and culture. After drawing their topics, each team had one minute to prepare and three minutes to present. Following the presentations, the judges asked questions, and each team had three minutes to respond.
After an intense and dynamic competition, the organizers selected the top five teams to advance to the situational handling round, from which three teams were awarded prizes.
In the final results, the first prize went to the team CTC GREEN FOURNEY from Can Tho Tourism College, the second prize was awarded to the team CHĂM from FPT University, and the third prize went to the team PATE from Can Tho University.
Additionally, the organizers presented several special awards, including for the best situational handling team and the outstanding female tour guide.
