Following Gen Z in choosing a school: The experiential factor is increasingly being emphasized

Not measuring success by grades or the “hotness” of a major, nor following the impositions of parents or family career traditions, Gen Z tends to prioritize schools that offer diverse experiences, encourage creativity, and develop soft skills alongside academic knowledge.

After finishing the regular classes at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School (Ha Tinh), Nguyen Tran Duc Huy (a 12th-grade student) is busy with programs and events in the Debate Club, Volunteer Club, and Chinese Club, among others. Despite being actively involved in extracurricular activities, Huy maintains an impressive academic performance, holding an IELTS score of 8.5 and many admirable achievements such as a Silver Medal in the national IOE competition in 2020, second prize in the provincial English Excellent Student competition in 2023, first prize in the provincial English Excellent Student competition in 2022, third prize in the provincial English Excellent Student competition in 2021, and second prize in the provincial English Excellent Student competition in 2019 and 2020

It cannot be denied that the traditional university model has done a good job of training intellectual human resources to meet the needs of society at certain stages. However, thanks to the explosive development of technology, academic knowledge can now be learned anytime, anywhere, not necessarily in lecture halls. The labor market’s requirements for young human resources have also changed; in addition to expertise, there are higher demands for foreign languages and soft skills. This is perhaps why youthful, modern learning environments rich in experiences and prioritizing the comprehensive development of students, such as FPT University, are being chosen by many high school students.
