FPT University (FPTU) operates campuses in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho and Quy Nhon, and many of its lecturers and staff relocate between cities to teach. Housing is one of the largest costs these employees face, especially in fast-growing cities where prices rise faster than salaries. As a university, FPTU therefore treats affordable housing as a core part of its employee welfare, working together with its FPT Corporation.
The University’s approach has three connected parts: (1) evaluating employees’ housing needs and the affordability of each scheme; (2) providing housing directly, from rent-free campus accommodation to below-market apartments for purchase; and (3) providing financial aid that lowers the cost of buying a home.
Evaluating housing needs and affordability
FPTU does not offer a single, one-size-fits-all benefit. Each housing scheme is designed around an assessment of who needs support and how much the support will reduce the real cost of housing:
- Needs-based allocation of apartments. For the FPT Plaza 3 programme, the discount each employee receives (from 10% below the market price upwards) is decided by their unit based on four criteria: work unit, seniority, achievements and housing needs. Employees who have already bought an apartment at FPT Plaza 1 or FPT Plaza 2 are not eligible, so the offer goes to staff who do not yet own a home.
- Affordability benchmarked against the market. The interest-rate subsidy for home loans (4% per year) is set against commercial bank lending rates, so that eligible staff pay a much lower effective interest rate than an ordinary borrower. Interest is calculated on the declining balance, so the saving is transparent and can be checked by each employee.
- Location and commuting costs. The FPT Plaza apartments are located in the FPT Da Nang Technology Urban Area, next to FPT University Da Nang campus, FPT schools and the F-Complex office. Living within walking or short riding distance of work reduces daily transport costs as well as housing costs.
- Monitoring demand on each campus. Each campus has a named focal point in the Human Resources/Administration team (see Section 2.1) who receives requests for campus accommodation, allocates rooms and tracks occupancy. This allows the University to see where demand exceeds supply, as happened in Quy Nhon, where dedicated staff houses were built for lecturers relocating to the new campus
Providing housing for employees
Free campus accommodation and staff houses
FPT University provides dormitory rooms, and staff houses free of charge for lecturers and staff who are on business trips, are rotated or assigned to another campus, or have newly relocated to take up a position. Because the accommodation is rent-free, housing does not become a financial burden when employees move to work in another city. Employees who need accommodation can contact the person responsible on each campus:
| No. | Campus | Type of accommodation | Rooms | Capacity | Contact |
| 1 | FPT University Hanoi | Staff dormitory | 8 | 16 | Ms. Huong |
| 2 | FPT University Da Nang | Staff dormitory | 8 | 32 | Ms. Thach |
| 3 | FPT University Can Tho | 1 staff house | 6 | 10 | Ms. Yen |
| 4 | FPT University Quy Nhon | 3 staff houses | 4 | 24 | Ms. Hanh |
| Total | 26 | 82 |
At FPT University Quy Nhon (AI Campus), staff houses were built inside the campus to receive lecturers and experts who move to Quy Nhon to work. The houses are fully furnished, with living rooms, bedrooms and green gardens, so employees can move in without buying furniture or signing a private rental contract.

Apartments at preferential prices: the “Settle down for a stable career” programme
To help employees own a home rather than rent, FPT Corporation builds apartment buildings in the FPT Da Nang Technology Urban Area and reserves part of each project for its own staff at preferential prices. Employees of FPT University, FPT Software, FPT Primary & Secondary School, FPT High School and Hope School are eligible.
- FPT Plaza 1 and FPT Plaza 2: more than 400 and 120 apartments respectively were handed over to FPT employees at preferential prices.
- FPT Plaza 3: 250 apartments were offered to employees with discounts starting from 10%, based on the needs-based criteria described in Section 1. The building was completed and handed over from April 2026, and the first ownership certificates were presented to residents on 14 August 2026.
- Result: around 800 FPT employees have become homeowners through this programme.
- Next phase – FPT Plaza 4: construction started in March 2025 (total investment of VND 2,790 billion; expected completion in Q2 2027), continuing the supply of housing in the technology urban area where FPT University Da Nang is located.

Providing financial aid for housing
Interest-rate subsidy for home and car loans
Since 1 October 2024, FPT University has applied an interest-rate support policy for full-time lecturers holding a doctoral degree and heads of departments. Instead of paying full bank interest, eligible employees receive:
| Purpose of the loan | Interest-rate subsidy | Maximum loan supported |
| Buying a house / apartment | 4% per year | VND 2 billion |
| Buying a car | 6% per year | VND 1 billion |
The subsidy is calculated on the declining loan balance and paid by the University, which substantially reduces the monthly repayments of employees buying a home. As of April 2025, 12 PhD lecturers and department heads were receiving support under this policy. Employees can apply through the Human Resources department of their campus (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho and Quy Nhon).

Monthly financial support for international employees
International lecturers, who usually have to rent accommodation when they arrive in Vietnam, receive a monthly allowance of VND 3,500,000 to VND 4,500,000, in accordance with Decision No. 1394/QĐ-ĐHFPT dated 6 December 2021 on the regulations on income payment for FPT University lecturers. This allowance helps them cover rent and settle in the city where they work.
