FPT University’s student achieves the ‘Vietnam Female Student in Science and Technology 2023’ award

Nguyen Quynh Anh, a student at FPT University, has won the “Vietnam Female Student in Science and Technology 2023” award due to her outstanding academic achievements and numerous scientific research publications in international journals and conferences.

Nguyen Quynh Anh is currently a student of the Software Engineering major, K16 cohort, at FPT University’s branch in Can Tho, affiliated with the FPT Education Organization. Despite pursuing a field of science that is considered somewhat arid, and even perceived as less suitable for women, Quynh Anh has achieved remarkable success in academics and scientific research.

Recently, Quynh Anh’s team has completed a research project on the smart agriculture model and the Tomato Healthy Check app, which has been accepted and published by the Q1 International Journal of Science, IEEE Access.

Additionally, Quynh Anh’s research team has developed the Tomatoes Healthy Check system. This system is designed to classify the physiological conditions of tomatoes with a creative and efficient approach. What sets this system apart is its ability to classify not only based on images but also to process videos and even classify in real-time through a webcam.

“I embarked on my first scientific research project because I wanted to experience a new field. The deeper I delved into it and received guidance from Professor Quach Luyl Da (lecturer in Information Technology at FPT University’s branch in Can Thơ), the more I found a passion for this discipline. Currently, I have published 8 international papers and some are awaiting publication,” Quỳnh Anh stated.

Quynh Anh frequently participates in computer science and programming competitions, achieving numerous high awards. In the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC), she won first place in the Mekong Delta region in 2021 and 2022, second place in 2023, third place nationally in 2022, and national encouragement award in 2021.

The FPT University student also made it to the top 5 in the AURA Hackathon 2022 organized by Aura Network. For two consecutive years, 2022 and 2023, Quynh Anh secured second place in the Student Research Competition – FPT Edu Research Festival, Information Technology subcommittee.

Notably, Quynh Anh just completed the academic year with a perfect GPA: 4.0/4.0, ranking among the top students with the best academic achievements at FPT University’s branch in Can Tho.

With outstanding achievements in academics and scientific research, Quynh Anh was selected as one of the 20 exemplary individuals to receive the “Vietnam Female Student in Science and Technology 2023” award. This award is annually presented by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee to female students with excellent achievements in the field of science and technology.

For Quynh Anh, science and technology are not just about academic achievements but have become a long-term passion and direction she wants to pursue. “Many people believe that girls studying information technology will face difficulties, but I think female students in this field actually have certain advantages such as precision, carefulness, avoiding unnecessary mistakes. Women also have the ability to memorize, exchange, communicate well, be flexible, and adept at problem-solving, being attentive, having creative thinking; all of these are essential qualities for a long-term commitment to this field,” Quynh Anh shared.

During her visit to Hanoi to receive the “Vietnam Female Student in Science and Technology 2023” award, Quynh Anh had the opportunity to exchange experiences in studying and researching technology with other talented female students from across the country.

“After the trip, it feels like I’ve gained an additional 200% of motivation to strive even harder on the journey of education and future career, to continually improve myself and be worthy of the valuable award I have received,” the FPT University student stated.
