FPT University’s Sustainability Report 2020

This report summarises the range of activities that FPT University undertakes to meet the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). Most of these activities can be identified under key statistics for SDGs, FPT University students and employees’ public engagement, and partnerships. Since the first cases were detected on 23 January 2020, Vietnam has undergone three pandemic waves to control the outbreak with stringent measures from the government to mitigate the adverse impacts. Unfortunately, The Covid-19 outbreak broke out in April 2021 – the fourth time in Vietnam, so job loss and income decline affect many students, their families, and also the University. This year has created new challenges and also the opportunity to overcome these challenges collectively. The Covid-19 outbreak disrupted many of our ongoing practices and the implementation of many SDGs.

However, we continue to attempt to keep them going as much as possible. We have cut tuition fees for these students by 15% to reduce poverty and hunger among our students, and their families. In the wider community, we were improvised to face the global pandemic’s challenges by working towards the good health and well-being of the people around us. We organized a range of online activities to tackle SDGs instead of organizing on-site. We remain committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and believe that the underlying principles of UNSDGs will help recover better post-pandemic.
