General Policies on Providing Free Access to FPT University’s Libraries
Scope of application: Everyone
FPT University demonstrates a university-wide policy to provide broad and equitable public access to libraries, books, publications, and other learning resources. This commitment applies across all FPT University campuses and is not limited to a particular school, faculty, or library. The university’s libraries provide free access to physical and digital resources, study facilities, and knowledge-sharing activities, supporting learning, research, reading, and community engagement.
The libraries at all FPT University campuses provide several services that allow everyone to access and use library resources free of charge, including:
- Free access to the Internet and library study spaces: The libraries provide free Internet access to support learning, research, and information access. Dedicated study spaces are available to users, with professional library staff providing assistance and guidance when needed.
- Free access to on-site book collections: Users can access the libraries’ physical book collections free of charge for reading and studying on site. In addition, children of FPT University faculty and staff, across different educational levels, are permitted to borrow books for use at home, extending access to library resources beyond the university community.
- Free access to scientific publications and graduation theses: The university provides free online access to scientific articles, students’ graduation theses, and other digital resources through the library website http://ds.libol.fpt.edu.vn/ and other online library resources. This enables users to access academic knowledge without being restricted to physical library facilities.
- Free participation in book fairs and knowledge-sharing activities: As part of its commitment to promoting a reading culture and an academic community, FPT University regularly organizes activities that are open free of charge to everyone. These include Book Fairs, the 7-Day Reading Challenge, exhibitions, and seminars on books and arts. Such activities provide opportunities for participants to access books, exchange knowledge, and engage in the university’s academic and cultural environment.

FPT University Ho Chi Minh City Campus’s Library
The library of FPT University Ho Chi Minh City spans a spacious area across three consecutive floors connected by long, open staircases. Unlike conventional library designs, this space designed by architect Vo Trong Nghia does not create a sense of being “overwhelmed” by books. On the contrary, it offers a refreshing atmosphere by making full use of natural light and providing expansive outward views of the green lawn and the blooming lotus pond in the center of the campus, separated only by sleek and sturdy glass panels.

Book Fairs, Reading Events and Libraries for Children in the Community
Book Fairs and Reading Events for the Community
Beyond opening its library spaces and collections to everyone, FPT University actively takes books out of the library and into the wider community. The university regularly organizes book fairs, book exchanges and reading-promotion events that anyone can join free of charge, and it builds and donates libraries and bookshelves for children in disadvantaged and remote areas. These activities extend free access to books and publications to people who do not have convenient access to a library.
The FPT University Library, in cooperation with the FPTU Book Club, holds book-related events every year in the library lobby and other open spaces on campus. The events are free to attend and open to students, faculty, staff, their families and visitors from outside the university.
Book Exchange Festival (“Ngày hội đổi sách”) Held in the Library lobby of the Delta Building (Hanoi campus), the Book Exchange Festival follows the motto “Give a book – Get a treasure”. Participants bring books they have already read and exchange them for other titles for free. Books keep circulating among readers instead of sitting unused, and participants who have no books to exchange can still come to read and browse.

Alongside book fairs, the library organizes reading campaigns such as “Open Your Book – Open Your Mind”, the 7-Day Reading Challenge, book exhibitions and talks on books and the arts. These activities encourage participants to share their reading stories, exchange ideas and build a lasting reading habit.

Libraries for Children
FPT University’s commitment to access books reaches beyond its campuses. Through community programs led by the university and its Youth Union, FPT University builds libraries and donates bookshelves to schools in remote and disadvantaged areas, so that children there can read and study for free.
The Youth Union of FPT University runs the “Bookshelves for Children” program, which collects books from students, faculty and staff and donates complete bookshelves to schools and communities in need. Each bookshelf holds storybooks, reference books and textbooks suited to children, giving them a free and permanent place to read.

To mark the 38th anniversary of FPT Corporation, FPT Education and its partners handed over the “FPT 38 Years Library” to Ta Van Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities. The new library was equipped with bookshelves, books, tablets and headphones, so pupils can use both printed books and digital learning resources. At the handover ceremony, pupils also received books and school supplies. The library now serves as a free reading and learning space for children from ethnic minorities in a remote mountainous area.

Through book fairs, book exchanges, reading campaigns and libraries built for children in the community, FPT University turns free access to books into an ongoing, university-wide practice. These activities bring books and publications to students, families and children in disadvantaged areas at no cost, and they show the university’s role in promoting lifelong learning and a reading culture across society.
