FPT University, as a body, provides affordable housing for students at all five of its campuses in Vietnam – Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho and Quy Nhon. The University’s approach has three components that together make safe, good-quality accommodation accessible to every student, regardless of family income:
- Provide housing: the University operates its own dormitories on or next to the Hanoi, Da Nang, Can Tho and Quy Nhon campuses, and secures a guaranteed quota of dormitory places for Ho Chi Minh City students through a formal cooperation agreement with the Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) Dormitory. It also supports students who choose to live off-campus through a university-vetted rental network.
- Evaluate affordability: dormitory fees are published in advance, paid per semester, include a basic utilities allowance and are benchmarked against the local rental market so that on-campus living costs substantially less than renting privately.
- Provide financial aid: a scholarship fund of more than VND 200 billion, full-programme tuition discounts at regional campuses and for students from disadvantaged areas, and flexible payment options reduce the overall cost of studying and living at the University.

FPT University – Hanoi campus
FPT University Hanoi is located in the Education and Training Zone of Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, Km29 Thang Long Avenue, Thach That, Hanoi – about 30 km from the city centre. Unlike the crowded and noisy capital, Hoa Lac offers a fresh, green and quiet environment. Because the campus is far from the city’s rental market, the University built its own dormitory inside the campus so that students can live within walking distance of their lecture halls without paying for daily commuting.
General information
- 8 dormitory buildings (Dom A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H), located between the lecture buildings (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon), canteens and sports grounds.
- Each building has a usable floor area of nearly 4,000 m² with 139 rooms.
- Room types for 3, 4, 6 and 8 occupants, giving students a choice of price levels.
- In-room facilities: bunk beds, study desks, wardrobes, shoe racks, clothes lines, air conditioning, water heaters and lighting.
- Building facilities: Wi-Fi, vending machines and self-service laundry; 24/7 security and on-site medical service.

Other services in the dormitory area
A dedicated service area provides essential facilities for students, lecturers and staff at affordable, student-oriented prices: canteens serving up to 5,000 meals per shift, a supermarket, hair salon, laundry, cafés, a fitness centre, football pitches, a basketball court and a street-workout area. Because daily necessities are available on campus, students living in the dormitory save both time and travel costs.

FPT University – Ho Chi Minh City campus
To meet the housing needs of students in Ho Chi Minh City, where private rents are high, FPT University signed a cooperation agreement with the Dormitory Management Center of Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM). Under this agreement, a quota of rooms at the VNU-HCM Dormitory is reserved for FPT University students at the same low, state-subsidised prices applied to VNU students.

FPT University – Can Tho campus
The Can Tho dormitory (600 Nguyen Van Cu Extension, An Binh Ward, Can Tho City) has been in operation since 2020. It follows a townhouse-style model in a green residential compound consisting of two blocks, Dorm A and Dorm B. Each block has 23 units (over 6,000 m² of usable floor area in total) with 138 fully furnished rooms, and more than 20 units are currently allocated to FPT University students.

- Shared facilities: common living rooms on each floor, a shared kitchen where students can cook their own meals to reduce food costs, and a laundry room.
- Safety: 24/7 security system.
Support for students who live off-campus
For students who prefer or need to live off-campus, FPT University operates a rental-housing information portal (https://nhatro.fptu.edu.vn/), currently covering the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City campuses. It lists about 2,000 rooms within 2–5 km of the campuses, priced from 1.5 to 4 million VND per month. Listed rentals mostly house FPT University students and are checked for safety features such as security cameras, fingerprint access and dedicated electricity lines. This helps students find safe accommodation at fair prices and protects them from overpriced or unsafe rentals.
Evaluate affordability
FPT University regularly reviews the cost of its dormitories against the local rental market to ensure that on-campus housing remains affordable for most students. Affordability is ensured through the following measures:
- Below-market fees: dormitory fees at every campus are set well below the price of comparable private rentals in the same area (Table 3).
- Utilities included: at the Hanoi dormitory, a monthly allowance of 200 kWh of electricity and 12 m³ of water is included in the fee; only consumption above this allowance is charged, at 2,500 VND/kWh and 10,000 VND/m³.
- Transparent, semester-based payment: fees are published on the University’s websites before registration and are paid per semester in line with the academic calendar, so students are not tied to long-term private leases.
- Choice of price levels: rooms for 3 to 8 occupants allow students to choose the option that suits their budget.
- No commuting and lower daily costs: living on campus eliminates travel costs (particularly important at Hoa Lac, 30 km from central Hanoi), while on-campus canteens and, at Quy Nhon, a shared kitchen keep food costs low.
Provide financial aid
In addition to low-cost housing, FPT University reduces the total cost of study and living through a wide range of financial support, so that students from all backgrounds can afford to study and live at the University.
| Scholarship Level | Criteria |
| 100%+ (tuition fee and living expenses) | Satisfy one of the following criteria:– Join the selected teams in international Exams like IMO and IOI.
– Won the first prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Informatics. |
FPT University, as a body, provides affordable housing for students at all five campuses. It owns and operates on-campus dormitories in Hanoi, Da Nang, Can Tho and Quy Nhon, and guarantees 500 low-cost places for Ho Chi Minh City students through its partnership with the VNU-HCM Dormitory. Dormitory fees – from about 180,000 to 1,250,000 VND per month (≈ $7–48), and less than $1.5 per day at the Hanoi campus – are substantially lower than off-campus rents, include basic utilities and are paid per semester. Together with a scholarship fund of more than 200 billion VND, tuition discounts for regional campuses and disadvantaged areas, scholarships that cover living expenses and flexible payment options, these measures ensure that students live safely and comfortably near their campus and focus on their studies, whatever their financial background.
