FPT University is a private university established in 2006 under the FPT technology corporation.
The highest governing body of FPT is the School Council, established pursuant to Decision No. 15/QĐ-CTGDFPT issued by FPT Education on November 15, 2019.

The highest governing body of the university is the University Council.
FPTU’s governance system operates in accordance with the University’s Regulations on Organization and Operation, issued by the Chairman of the University Council on November 9, 2023 – Decision No. 1177/QĐ-FPTU.
FPTU’s governance system adheres to the Educational Organizations Management System (EOMS) framework under the ISO 21001:2020 standard, a certification the university achieved in 2022. Adopting this standard enables the university to meet the needs of learners and other stakeholders.
Although the university’s governance model is designed for lean efficiency, the University Council ensures that representative groups within the institution have a voice; these include representatives from three key constituencies: faculty, students/alumni, and staff.
Personnel within the management system undergo periodic evaluations and confidence votes by staff and faculty members across all organizational levels. These evaluations and confidence ratings serve as the basis for appointments to management positions for the subsequent term.

These representatives of FPT University students are also recognized by the Hanoi Youth Union as of May 7, 2025, under Decision No. 1984-QĐ/TĐTN-TCKT.
